hi,

here is the problem, when my 1jz is hot and that i just rev it up.... when i release the gaz and stop at idle, gray smoke is coming out from the exhaust during 2-3 seconde. Does not look/smell like oil or prestone. its light gray, smell just like exhaust but more intensive...

the oil is new, didn't resolve the problem. exhaust is straight to a pipe. getting a new downpipe for tomorrow, the one i got is bent a little.

hopping to find a solution fast because the ride is very fun to drive!

Dave.

Sorry my bad english!

This topic has been covered a lot, maybe more than any other topic in the mechanical section. If you do a search for your question you will find many different answers. I would say it is the turbo seals. Very common problem with the Soarer's around that age.

i would think turbo seals would cause smoke on boost, not off?

if its smoking on idling i would have thought valve stem seals...

Go a thicker semi synthetic oil. That will certainly help.

Try some Penrite HPR40, stopped my turbos smoking for about 6 months.

I'm on 5w30 full syn and no smoke ever at all.

David listen to the noise they make. Is it an even noise or a wavery one. Smooth is good wavey bad. Smoking under boost is another thing to watch for.

If you want more info there have been countless discussions on this before. Just search and you'll find a ton of info.
