Myself and another Soarer owner were at the drags last night and I noticed I could hear his BOV from the stands. I had a look under the bonnet and he has a stock BOV. Mine is also stock but it makes no where near the noise his does. Mine is a flutter at best that can barely be heard over the engine.
Any ideas what would affect the amount of noise made on a stock BOV?

Hard to get that sound Robert...that fluttering sound you here is the actuall turbos back spinning which defientley isnt good. unless there is a BOV out there that specifically makes that noise.
Cause ive always been told its the turbos back spinning?? people usually think its the wastegate but its not.

I tried disconnecting the stock blow off valve recirculation piping and blocking the hole that leads to the intake of the compressors/towards the airbox, and it doesnt blow off at all?

yeah a pod makes it really loud!! stock air box is designed to reduce induction noises eg. bov noise and sucking noise, get a pod if u want a louder bov noise, cheaper than getting a aftermarket BOV.

When my stock BOV was connected with pod filter it wasnt that loud at all. it made enough noise so you could here it but yeah the aftermarket bov i have on there now is much louder than the pod.

i think so ! but more of a canary factor to me! hate cops pull ya ova for that, whereas all those motorbikes eg. Harlies, hammering around everywhere and their catastrophic noise level is legal??

IF you get a sequential bov the sound will throw coppers off a bit
Just tell them you don't have a bov, that is the noise they are hearing, tell them it's compressor surge and the noise they can hear is your turbo blades falling apart.

lol! you want flutter/compressor surge? why would u want that? i was the same when i first brought mine though! just go get a fmic,stainless piping and a decent pod filter! then youll hear your compressor surge more!!!! im told all these can contribute to making it a lot louder!

compressor surge comes naturely with a turbo car it dosent mess up •• turbos that much unless •• running silly amounts of boost like 15.....20psi then u will buck •• turbos
