try MrTurbo on the goldcoast. THink his number is 55 961 079. If you have the extra $ just get rid of those steel wheelers and buy one of his billet turbo's and have a single turbo setup. You wont look back

No don't use Mr Turbo he is dodgy as can be! There's a Liberty B Four show car done at my local workshop at the moment that has one of his renowned gt35r's that can spool up 400-500rpm quicker than a garrett model. The guts of the turbo is garrett gear while the two housings are chinese crap. The rear housing is tiny as which is why it can spool up quickly! The actuator on this turbo (yes it's internally gated) doesn't seal properly so it leaks boost and the turbo can't go beyond 14 psi which for a brand new turbo that costs $600 more than a garrett one is ridiculous! Just call up some of your local motorsport companies see if they can source you some, get a few quotes then go from there.

Thanks Marc, I called Mr Turbo and he wanted to charge me $705 per turbo to replace everything, he won't just do the seals which is all these puppies need (according to the bloke I bought them off) so I'm going to find someone else. I know I could just call around and get quotes but I thought I'd ask and see if anyone on here knows anyone who'll do a decent job at a decent price first...

Mark.. hmm that is Darrens. Yes he is having problems with the turbo and marc (Mr Turbo) is getting it sorted out at the moment. The rear housing that darren has got is that size as his engine is a 2.2 ltr amd he doesnt want to be hitting full boost at 8000 rpm (especially with the 6speed gearbox and his diff ratios). Mr turbo has proven turbo's that do make power and are used by many large workshops with big HP cars. Also the 'Guts' Of the turbo is not actually garret.. (yeah the wheels maybe)but its a billet centre.
also this will help explain the size of the exhaust housing. (these turbos can spin at higher rpm's than other bearing turbos, thus move more air through small housings.
Also darren chose the internal gated version. These dont only come gated. These are available in many different configurations.

What large workshops and what high HP cars? Go and have a look at your mates turbo carefully Christian and tell me honestly that you like what you see, in fact go and have a yarn to Mick and Graham at the workshop get some feed back from them on the turbo while you're at it, might enlighten you at little!
Dyson rotary use them on their race cars. Craig and waynes 7 & 8 sec cars use Mr turbo modified turbonetics turbos along with brice millers 8 sec Mr turbo hybrid. Also many tough street cars about use them. The below 2j uses a Mr turbo modified (nitrated bearings)t78 and onbial uses 2 of his billet turbos. The soarer was pushing out over 800kw a couple years back and onbail pushes out over 500kw on street tune
.
Darrens case isnt one to judge the turbos, but im sure he will jump on here and back his case.
Just because your workshop hasnt used them before doesnt meant they are not good. Having said that though i have only heard good things about tuned, hence why darren's car is there.

As above.
Just spoke to Mr Turbo, he checked over the turbo as Mick thought it had an oil leak...it didnt. Everything is sealing properly etc. The turbo has been sent back to Tuned, i know they dont like the covers or wastegate setup, but it has been proven to work before and it's cos they have never dealt with a setup like it before.
The wastegate actuator is a genuine garrett item, the turbo cost 2000, small housing (.63 chosen by me for a 2.2L) he said i could swap to a .84 for free after more power and prepared to wait a little longer for boost.
All I have heard is good things, and so far its noones fault its not boosting. Kinda hard to figure out if its the turbo, cooler, exhaust, computer, vacuum lines as they are all new mods.

Big hp cars. 6boost's ke70 corolla wagon uses a Mr Turbo 66mm turbo and is AFAIK the quickest 1g in the world. 9.8@138mph. Kyle aka 6boost obviously knows his and this is the first I have heard of any bad stuff re Mr Turbo. Also, a lot of big hp rotary guys use his turbos.
Re seals for steel wheels. MTQ is another place I have heard of. I think that is their name. Just go and search whitepages in qld for "turbo"
www.mtqes.com.au is the place you are talking about. I got my wastegate actuator from there and christof got his turbo and ext wastegate from there as well.

Well if all you guys seem to think his turbo's are alright then I guess I'll concede on this issue. I was never debating his hybrid turbo's for the record they seem to be the goods.
Who owns that soarer anyone know? I love the engine bay except for those ignition leads, way too long!
Christian on a completely unrealted topic, you also use a tial 44mm gate, firstly is yours plumbed back? And do you find it slightly too large because mine seems a little too efficient at present.
Hope your car gets going soon whatever the problem ends up being Darren, great looking B Four
The soarer is my cousins (Mark Brix). This was built by mick who used to work at subzero. The car is now in melbourne and last i head was getting work done at bresciani racing. It has a 2 speed powerglide in it and last i heard he wasnt allowed back at the track for safety reasons.
Yeah marc the wastegate i have holds boost fine (perfectly). It is not plumbed back and currenlt using a 1bar spring. if you want to change the boost with these it easy by just buying extra springs as i will be doing shortly. they are available from gcg starting from $65. I will be increasing the boost this way as boost controllers seem to fluctuate boost except expensive electronic ones

Hmm well I have a .9 bar spring in mine and I have 3 boost settings controller by my autronic sm4 (apparently the boost control system in these computers is spot on) the first is on the wastegate the second at 15 psi and my last is 19psi and I dunno just seems like it's opening too early the wastegate starts screaming just as the fun starts to kick in and well once it opens that's it all the pressure goes! Oh and as far as boost controllers go like Chris said the Profec B Spec II is dirt cheap at the moment and well worth the money! I had one up until a few weeks ago and it is super easy to install plus held accurate boost
