Hi guys, i'm just wondering what do you think about these turbos?? Has anyone tried them?? What results have they achieved?? Do you think its a bang for your buck??
I'm thinking of going steel wheels, just to try to keep the looks under the bonnet as standard as possible. So i don't know whether to get my turbos rebuild with steelies and hi-flowed or to buy these turbos. I got quoted $1500 a turbo and this guy is selling for $1375 a pair.

No problems with mine so far. Installed by a professional mechanic, done 20,000kms so far, around 12 months old now. Just inspect them in detail before putting them on the car.

When mine decided to detonate the day after i bought the car i simply could not fork up the coin for $1500 rebuilds on two turbo's and whatever workmanship required to strip and refit.
While looking around for an alternative i came across these and seemed the best deal so went ahead and bought them, i do plan to upgrade the turbo system in the future so i wasnt worried about them lasting for the rest of the cars life and if they prove to be sh!t its just an excuse to upgrade sooner, had no troubles so far but they're only a few months old with half of that time been spent at a panelbeaters not getting much use at all.... i hope.. lol

If you have to source a turbo because it's blown and you ain't got the cash for a rebuild. There is members that are selling stock turbo's that are in good nick for a good price...You will then have extra cash to put to your rebuilds or single conversion.

No disrespect to Braden or Sam.......People need to be told,These are cheap for a good reason. They are cheaply made.
I'm not feeling any disrespect.. like i said it was only a temp fix to get the car back on the road (not that it lasted long), i didnt know of this website at the time and was having a lot of trouble sourcing stockies.
I'm curious about a sequential setup, im thinking very heavy on the $$ though...

What supra style? If so it can't be done on a 1jz.Neil mentioned that the head on a 1j is not the same as a 2j.....Also the standard ECU is mapped for twins Not sequential.
As for price you would be better off going single.

I beg to differ on that call, with the current results we have seen lately with twin setups, I would prefer to go the twin stage which I will be doing anyway. For the price vs results, the HKS T3G's can match the performance of a single and be more streetable as well....

That is true Steven! You have to ask yourself the question,What do you want out of your car? I was just chasing 300hp and good street use.I managed to get this figure on 17psi,Untill one of the steel wheel turbo's(EBAY one's) let go.My aim now is 350hp with the option to go bigger,And fun power for the track........That is why I will be going single.

You won't be happy with a single for circuit racing expecially with a auto, 1/4 mile you will be with a decent enough stall. I know the circiut has bitten you and you love racing around it, but the single won't be responsive enough I think and you will be left behind going around corners....

Bens got pretty decent results out of a Single turbo.
I think if you pick the right Single turbo it will be responsive enough, Especially if your not after huge power where as for example 350hp is not huge power so you could choose to go for a single with a responsive setup and sacrifice abit of up top end hp.
On the other hand I really think Bens setup is amazing if i had my time again id probally go the same route as Ben, except i would still maintain my Manual conversion ofcourse lol.
Only reason i went hybrid twins was to keep to the stock engine bay look so if i ever get pulled over i wont get defected as the engine bay looks stock.

The issues i see with a single on Stock cams and stock convertor for daily use and track use is, Very narrow powerband, ( specially afteer he is now back on stockies with awsome response and output). Ie Full boost @ 4,000 peak rpm 6200ishrpm, and not much below 3500rpm.
Also, The boost will come on hard which will cause traction issues with an auto. Sure a convertor will help with response, but it will heat the transmission fluid also.
Bens setup is awsome, for sure... But look at all of his ancillaries!!! Lotsa of $$$ and time and effort and customising and trial and error to get where he is at the moment.
I think Jeff is trying to go for a Bolt on and Go type package. Only way to find out if ya like it or not, is to fit it and see how it performs

My original plan was to go steel wheels but when Paul told me he was parting out his soarer and the price he wanted for his GT35r kit I couldn't resist. now my goal has gone from a mere 250rwkw to somewhere in the 300's... as close to 350rwkw as I can get on a stock motor without leaning on it but next year when i get the engine forged and the transmission done then I will be aiming for more. A GT30/37 wouldn't of cut it for what im planning to do.
