They are both good at letting air through, and both good at letting dirt through too.

Regardless what uneducated sh1t Matthew is blabbering on about Yang, out of ALL the pod filters on the market, the Apexi item has been proven to the the best at flow and FILTRATION out of all the other brands on the market. Go for it.

Actually in a test done by autosalon magazine on a wide range of filters, the Apexi unit came in at 7th for flow and 6th for filtration, out of ten filters tested. The K&N filter came in at first for filtration and 4th for flow.

Yeah, thats right ignore me I have no idea what I'm talking about, Maurice is god and knows everything.

OR... you could have a search and find out for yourself. From memory recently there was a review on the Mk IV supra forum - the Apexi did come out on top from memory, but still let the test paper get pretty looking.

Other reviews I've seen have rated the Apexi less well - maybe its quality control issues that plague after market parts makers - who knows.

In any case no aftermarket pod filter stops as much getting through as a standard OEM filter, that can't be debated, thus I stand by my statement.

Change your oil regularly and it won't be much of a problem anyway.

Yeah Matt, my general point was that if he has to have a pod filter the Apexi one is regarded as the best. I used to have a proper shielded BFI set up and since upgrading to an enclosed pod with scoops and everything I'll never look back.

The results i gave were from an autosalon magazine. It was issue 51. The test was done on 10 differnet filters. The results may be a bit dodgy as the winner in their test was the 3A Racing filter, which is only $28. Sorry for any confusion, It was their results not mine.

I read an article in HPI where they rated the Apexi unit head and shoulders ahead of it's competitors. Doesn't matter, I have HKS which is rated best in flow and worst in filtration (Learned this after purcahse) and my engine hasn't blown up yet.

Im currently using the K&N filter with an enclosed air box, haven't had any troubles with it. As long as they are cleaned now and then they work well. It all depends who is doing the tests and how they carry them out i guess...

I used to use two K&N oil pod filters on a set of 2" SU carbs - the carb needles would often foul - though the carbs themselves were not in great shape, and it could have been the upper cylinder lube system I was using too, which was also a bit dodgy - however I changed from the pods to a single panel disposable filter (can't remember the brand but it was pretty cheap) and they did give a lot less trouble. No recordable change in RWHP either.

Admitedly this is going back about 10 years, but I don't think K&N have changed that much since then.

Bullshit!!

The K&N slides over the pipe and clamps on..

the apexi pod is held in place by 4 bolts at the back of it, so a custom adapter is required.

This is why they sell a JZZ30 specific kit, which includes adapter and mounting brackets.

The APEXi filter is much better and well worth the extra $$.... Just buy the kit wih mounting brackets... takes 10 minutes to install, and its a perfect fit!

K&N dont need adaptors. They slide over and clamps on as Rob mentioned.

PM replied Yang.
