Well i just got a TT soarer... real cheap cos is blowing smoke, a whole heap!

I'm pretty sure its the turbos cos is gray smoke... but it still goes great and you can hear the turbos

The guy got the turbos redone a few months ago and says they stuffed up the job cos its still blowing smoke... i'm not sure exactly whats wrong but i got it cheap enough so if i need to get the whole engine changed i can afford it.

Any advice?
Any suggested mechanics? i live in brisbane

Any comment would be helpful

gray is not turbo.if it was turbo it should blow blue smoke.

Maybe he means gray/blue?

Grey/white could be a fuel issue or just condensation.

Its definitely white/grey... i've been told my mechanics that white means its a turbo problem? But havent taken the car to a mechanic yet cos i only got it last night.

Don't think it could be condensation, cos theres a lot of smoke.

could it be fuel?

does is sound like its the engine?

maybe someone filled it with like 20L of oil ?

I checked the oil to make sure its not over filled. The oil is pretty dirty and i cant be sure but i think there are some specs of metal, like really tiny... is this normal? anyone know wat this means?

No, metal specs are bad. If it is metal shavings, something has, or is in the process of letting go.

i've been told that the metal specs could be the result of turbo seals giving way and slipping back into the sump...

I've done a compression test, the engines fine so the smoke is probably the turbos...

everyday in the morning, i warm up the car, i check out there are some black water from the exhaust, the floor is getting black by the water.

Nothing..condensation..and black smoke, thats fuel

The condensation is also washing some of the soot out of the exhaust.

kim get the oil +filter changed now, otherwise you will not have an engine at all!

Yeah i'd be suspecting something valve related, your turbo's wouldn't throw off enough shards for you to see it from your dipstick. What type of oil did you put in it? mineral oils and semi synthetic oils can appear to have imperfections.

When the seels on my turbos went, it smokes a lot at idle, then stops as you drive along. When you back off the throttle it starts to smoke again.

well i just bout the car... so not sure what oil was used... but i changed the oil the other day and ther were some shavings of steel and some specs... i dont think its the turbos anymore... i have no idea what it is...

i'm getting it checked tomorrow...

the engine is running smooth and the compression test came up fine... so i didnt think it was the engine... but i dont know

Ok... i need some more advice

Took it to a mechanic and he thinks its the stem valve seals.

I've read the smoke should be blue if its oil... but the smoke is white... any comments?

how does it run under throttle?
Any cutting out? Missfiring? power loss?

nope all is fine...

just smoke.

but the greater to load the less the smoke

drive it hard and theres no smoke, at high revs and there is no smoke
