Hi every one!
Can any one tell me if there are after market turbos(2) that could feet in standard 1jz manifold. Basically same ones, but a little bigger and good middle range? I hope I'm clear in my explanation.
I would really appreciate any ones help...

CT12a Housings, Garret GT28 Ball Bearing internals, GCG fitting and building the custom turbo's, and you have the potential to really give you some power (with the right supporting modifications).

GCG are doing a hybrid GGT28 into CT12 conversion, it's about $2,000/turbocharger, but damn they have some potential....

yes they are an excallent upgrade.
they spool up very quick maybe 500 rpms later than stock twins but offer massive potential.

I have only run 15 psi so far.
n power figure yet as I have not put it on the dyno.
seat of the pants = bloody fantastic.

how much? Pm me :-)

I thought the stock turbo's are good for 270kw anyway?
And what happened to the old idea of putting starlet turbine wheels (steel) in the ct12's?
More boost friendly, same response!
270kw and stock response sounds good to me!

Not same response, They are Smaller comp wheels and are not efficient. been proven long after the 10 yr old article from 1 magazine.

Stock turbos, Good for maybe 250rwkw on 19psi with some small cams and everything possible. But thats not what most would call "efficient" .

Most stock turbo's with the usual mods should make around 220rwkw with all the mods @ 16-17psi.

P.s. Steel wheels = more lag, no matter what you do to try and improve on that... Cept maybe Going Ball bearing cores, but then you may as well go hybrid Gt 28/60's or so.

I've been running one for over a year, no problem with it. They can catch fire if there is oil leaking from the turbo as it gets caught by the blanket, which is right there in the heat of things, and you know the story. So it comes down to fitting the actual turbos correctly.

I guess i'm an anti lag person.
I have a manual, and the stock lag is frustrating.
Sure, you can get 500kw out of a 1j, but to add
more lag, does not seem like an upgrade to me.
mabey i should start a new thread?

Fair enough.
But think about 500kw with no lag!
not just a 2000rpm powerband
the car would be so much faster!

Area under the power curve is what you want :-)

What sort of response do those GT28 cored turbos have? Didn't someone put GT2530 cores in them too? I'd like something with similar response to stock, but oodles more power. Heatsoak is the biggest problem I have with the stockies, power dips dramatically between each application of the right foot.
