My 1.5 JZ needs ANOTHER rebuild! Has all the good gear but the crank pulley let go damaging the crank and causing the water pump to stop turning causing it to overheat. It obviously needs to be pulled down, inspected and repaired. I am looking for a Melbourne based engine builder with experience building high performance (race) 1J, 1.5J and 2JZ motors. The motor has developed 526.9kWs (706HP) at the wheels I would really like this to be the last rebuild for a while so I am only looking for workshops with a proven track record. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

well theres NX Generation workshop in melb who work on high performance cars, apparently they pull like high 8secs with their torana's, and have the second fastest 400m sprint record. thats at least what my brothers mate says who is cousins with those guys. but they are also expensive and dont know if they work with jap cars. thats why i never bothered to take my car there

If you get stuck David,Steve Cram/Manta Racing in Adelaide.Talk to him about it. He builds engines and look after a lot of high end machinery as well as a few members Soarers. Barring Neil , hes the best mechanic I've struck.

That would be Haddad Race Cars and Engines. And they mostly do pushrod stuff. So you never answered Peter's question in the ebay thread.

Hey now.. nothing wrong with a good pushrod between friends. Once you go for roller everything they're fine. Way easier and cheaper to take apart and put together too!

Of course they make getting an efficient flowing head a bit more difficult than OHC, so from that point of view I'd term them as primitive and old tech.

Horses for courses. While the OHC is higher tech, OHV has been developed past "primitive" and has its advantages in some cases. Less cost and maintenance, and the heads can make plenty of flow for the engines they are used in (larger). The new Corvette motor apparently revs to 7000rpm stock, and can fit in a smaller space with its dry sump and smaller valve area than a similar Mustang DOHC V8. It's lighter, cheaper, easier and cheaper to maintain and makes the same sort of power per cid. The new Viper motor makes over 600hp with cam-in-cam VVT. There are ups and downs to every technology. And pushrod motors have had a lot of development on the design since the 50s. The most powerful engines on earth are also pushrod (top fuelers).

Yang, being caught out hardly gives you the right to be rude. When you post on a public forum, you are making it everybody's business. I respectfully request that you don't sell or try to promote sales of parts on this forum again.

True, and OHC is so often used as a marketing gimmick these days anyway.
