Hey guys,

I am getting my new engine fitted in about 2 weeks. What I want to know is what I should have done while they are fitting the new engine??
So far I've got:
1. Change the timing belt on the new engine
2. Replace the rear main engine seal
3. I'm thinking engine mounts (can anyone confirm the part number for these??) Also, how many engine mounts are there? Do I only need to replace the front two or something??

And its getting an oil & filter change.

So yeh, anyone know about the engine mounts? And any other sugestions for things that should be changed.

Thanks Guys, the sooner the response the better, because I need to get onto ordering these parts.

personally i would do the water pump and the belt tensioners too. not much extra work with engine out of the car and timing belt off

If the engine is high K's its worth changing the timing belt tensioner at the least. V belt tensioner can wait as its very easy to replace later.

the tensioner is nothing to worry about ( its a hydraulic rod thing. and doesn't go dodgy like older cars that use springs) just make sure the bearing on the tensioner pulley is still smooth and it will be fine.

If your engine mounts arnt broken in half don't worry about replacing them. they can be changed easily enough at a later date when you have more cash. (if they are broken replace them :-) ) and check the tranny mount while your at it.

Once in the car do a couple of oil changes every 2,500km's then go back to the usual 5,000km changes as you dont know how long the engine has been sitting around and its previous history etc.

that is about it! hope it all works out for you good luck!

Thanks James,

So far I've bought:
Timing Belt
Engine Mounts
Rear main engine seal
Front Upper control arm bushes (VFT)
Front Lower control arms with new bushes
Steering rack & new bushes (VFT)
Kings springs

And will buy a Genuine toyota water pump as well.

All in all....costing me my left nut lol. But hopefully will be worth it.

Christian, if you are doing the rear engine seal, do the front gearbox seal as well. It's a cheap part and only adds about 5 minutes to the job.

Car is in!!!!

Should be ready for pick-up on friday...I'm so nervous, lol.

I feel like they are violating my car down there....ripping out its heart (engine) and putting some foreign parts into it. lol.

I hope they take car of it.

Anyone that has dealt with BIP and has good things to say please re-assure me lol

I'd probably get the front main seal and cam seals done while they are at it, as well as the cam cover gaskets...but too late now :-)
