Just the other day my soarer turned its self of (engine shut down) when I was driving along and it’s happened again today (3 times on the way home). Could it be a faulty crank angle senor causing this to happen? I am yet to run a diagnostic for error codes. Has anyone had this problem before? Apart from this it seems to be running fine.
Cheers

How does it go when you try to re-start it? If it gives you grief when you try to crank it over, look at your fuel ecu. I kind of ignored mine for a while, then it got to the stage where the engine would cut out for no apparent reason, then it was a trip to toyota for a new one.

Have had the same thing happen to me. Check all you connections on the battery. It turned out that the positive was lose. Have not had the same problem since.

Hi Ryan, when it happened to you, did you notice all power going of, or just the engine? I didn’t notice any loss of power in the interior (CD player kept going), the engine just cut out. I’ll have a look to see if my connections are loose.

Had run though the diagnostics and there were no EFI or ECT issues – though I’m not sure that rules out a dodgy Crank Angle Sensor. Checked Battery terminals and Positive did have a touch of sideways movement so I’ve cleaned it up put it back on properly. Hopefully the problem was that stupidly simple.

I’ve been doing a bit of reading up and I’m starting to lean that way. I guess I’ll just have to have a paper clip ready to pop in FP & B+ in the diagnostics just in case it is the Fuel ECU. Was it a hassle to change?

Thanks Peter, looks very simple. I've popped in a paperclip as a jumper between FP & B+ to hopefully keep the engine from mysteriously turning its self off. I will get one from MR-T tomorrow (if they have any in stock) and fit it straight away.

Almost 100% sure it’s the Fuel Pump ECU. Did the Fuel Pump ECU bypass thing and haven’t had a problem since. Just got back from Toyota with a new one and will put it in tonight.
