Hi Guys,
What dramas I have had with my poor car over the last 2 weeks, first the diff deciding to pass away completely without warning.
Managed to get the diff fitted into the car literally 2 minutes before needing it for a 1600km round trip to and from Albury.
Anyway, car made it down there without any issues at all, but on the way back, the car was giving me a little grief with power.
The current issue: When the car has been driving for a while (4 hours+), it seems to struggle to get power, gets to 3,800 rpm, you can hear it start to spool, and then all of a sudden the spooling noise starts to die down, and the car starts to power surge.
It did this yesterday from Goulburn all the way back into sydney, so I struggled to get the car up to speed, and overtaking other cars became a slight challenge, but the car got home without any issues.
Anyway, left it until this morning, got in it, started it up, lifted the bonnet and checked all the piping and other usuals, but found no issue, so I jumped in and took off for work.
On the way to work, I opened the throttle a few times, and it came onto boost as normal, and held boost nicely the entire run through the rev range.
As this issue has only just started to happen, I haven't tried to over-ride the Fuel pump ECU, because it hasn't happened since checking the how-to's for this, but next time it does start happening, I will try it.
My thoughts are either the Fuel pump ECU is starting to get hot and not flick to the higher demand setting, or the fuel pump it's self is getting a little aged, and after pro-lohnged use it doesn't want to pump as strong.
Either way, I think it's fuel related (Car's almost at 150,000 kms and the fuel filter will be chantged this coming weekend).

Fuel ECU, Blocked fuel filter, Spark plugs, or COil Packs would be my guesses...
While its driving nicely, make yourself up a wire to bridge out the Fuel Pump ECU int he Diagnostics box and leave it in the car until it may need it. That way if its htat you will be safe

I should have said I am ruling out coil packs, ignition module and spark plugs because I replaced all 3 of these 2 weeks ago for new items, and it was running without any issues.
I have plenty of wire and cutters int he car perminantly (for my job) for a bridge, but until last night I couldn't remember the bridging points, it's now firmly in my head (obvious now that FP means fuel pump, and you need to push the B+ (Battery 12v+) to the Fuel Pump to drive it at 100%.

OK, problem solved now!!
Went back to my Mechanic and thanked him for helping out on the diff last Friday when I needed it for my cruise to Albury, anyway I mentioned the surging feeling to him, and his daughter who is also a mechanic and worked on my car mentioned there was a clamp under it, she had no idea what it was for.
Anyway, we got the car back in, lifted her up, and sure enough this damn clamp was on the fuel line, restricting the poor car's fuel.
