Hey Guys, Engine is leaking oil and I dunno where to start in finding out where it is coming from so I can fix.
I am guessing I should Degrease the Engine and wait for leaks to appear? Also what seals/gaskets would I be looking at replacing and any idea on rough price for replacement and how long it would take (For labour costs)
Through searching I found some which could need replacing. Cam Seals, Rear Main, Crank seal, cam covers, PCV

Could be the rear main...
I just had mine replaced. I think from toyota it costs about $70-$80. Not sure about labour though. I think they would need to seperate the engine from the gearbox to do it....might not be too hard tho.
Would recommend doing the front main transmission seal if you do the rear main engine seal.
I didnt but only because I ran out of time sourcing parts.

hmm oil filter, didn't think about that. I normally do it up with the Filter tool dont think I did last change though, Will check that also, changing the oil this week. Will try and degrease the engine bay and check for other stuff =\

Aftermarket rear mains can be had for under $20 if you shop around. Not that the $40 saving matters that much though, the labour cost for a drive in, drive out replacement is around $800! Not a small job :/
Tried you cam cover gaskets mate? Oil will pool at the lowest point of the block, so really could be coming from anywhere!

Get it degreased from underneath the engine then blast it with water. Drive it for a week. See where its coming from, then you know exactly what to replace instead of guessing. Why replace something when you don't have to.

Cam cover seals are a common problem and not too hard to do yourself. You could try that first.
Its a good idea to update to the newer PCV valve if you hadn't already done so (a 5 minute job provided you dont push the old grommet into the cam cover ), make sure you get the new hose with it as its a different design.

did not know there was a transmission on the front? i think you meen fron crank seal
I'm fairly sure their is a seal on the front of the tranny thats commonly replaced when the box is removed to do the rear main.

Cam cover gaskets commonly leak...my car also had a leaky rear main seal which was replaced while I had the transmission out. Cost about $80 for the seal. The torque converter seal on the transmission is probably what was being referred to above. Other seals that are known to go are the front main seal (crank) and the cam seals.
At this point in life the majority of them are probably starting to leak. Start with the cam cover gaskets and work your way down I'd say.

also double checking the color of whats coming out as well. maybe lay some paper down to give a good indication.
black/brown = engine oil red power = steering/transmission green/red = coolant
putting some paper down might help to show which side of the engine the leak is coming from, and then work your way up. could also be the turbo oil lines i suppose.
