go and do it and find out.
You may have a freak soarer or may be average. With a good launch you should be able to run a low 14 at about 100-102mph.
Leave stock wheels on. Probably a tiny bit slower becuase they are most likely heavier though.
If they are turbo pulsars running high 13's they are probably trapping closer to 110mph as they are usually crap off the line so they will most likely be chasing you down in the deep end.
Get out there and have fun. It isn't all about being the fastest (especially in near stock cars) so just go and do it

If you want a comparison, my car is a TT and in good condition, nothing special done except for the BFI and an opened exhaust. I run consistant 14.1xx's at 98-99 mph with only being able to stall the auto tranny to 2700 rpm before wheelspin. That's on 275's deflated to about 18 psi.

Also remember you'll be crusing down the 400 in luxury while they drive their screaming cake tins that feel like they are going to fly apart by the time they hit the finish.

Most of the stock TT's in Sydney have run 14.2-14.8 @ 97-99mph. Most 60 foot in the 2.1-2.3 region.
Leave the 275's on as you will need all the traction you can get! Drop them down to 22psi and have a good day Leave the auto in Drive with Overdrive OFF and ECT set to normal ( not power).
This setup should yeild you the best results, have fun.

thanks for the replies
this gives me some confidence, hopefully with 13.5-14psi i could get down into the 13s
there wont be any gtirs there but i know i wouldnt have a chance going up against even a lightly modded one, ive been a member of a pulsar forum for 4 years and know that the 4wd ones can be killers in standard form.
thanks Daniel, ill drop the pressure down in the tyres and well see how it goes
its still a little while away, but ill update the thread when i run!

Have fun Ryan!
14psi will get you close to a high 13sec pass. As daniel said leave the Ect set to normal as this is the softest setting your stock suspension is set at.If you set the Ect to on you will light the tyre's up every time.
The best way to get a good launch is to bring your self to the line first then put your foot on the brake and bring your rev's up(this is called stalling the turbo's) to just before you start to wheel spin,Around the 2700rpm mark(try this on the pre burnout and you will see what I mean). When you see green! Drop your brake peddle and smash the excelerator peddle and don't ease of until you are past the finish line. Your first run will be all nerve's,So don't expect too much.Once you get this out the way then it's time to concentrate on your launch. The lower your 60 foot time's the better you 1/4 time will be it's all in the launch. GOOD luck mate and keep us posted of your result's.A low 14sec pass is awsome for minimal mods,A high 13 will be unreal.

ut how come people suggest the power button set to normal?
In a drag race it doesnt do anything =P At least Luke Hoff and myself have tried with it and without with no significant changes in times.
It certainly doesnt change the tuning of the car at all. I have noticed however that it will hold a gear longer before it changes up, however under WOT there is no difference between on and off.
If you have TEMS in the TT (dont know about a v8 with airbags or hydrologic suspension) the suspension actually stiffens up, which isnt something you necessarily want when drag racing.
Edit: As an additional to what Jeff said, put your foot hard on the throttle before releasing the brakes. This will minimise the "limpness" you may experience when the accelerator isnt on full but the brakes are off! ;) If you want to look at even more finite stuff you can also attempt a thing called "shallow staging" =P

It changes the shift points at WOT( wont shift as high) and with the ECT on NORM and Overdrive Off it will lockup in 3rd earlier than with the power button on.
The stock 1JZ makes peak power @ 6100rpm and drops off hard! The worst thing when drag racing a turbo car is over revving it! You are better off keeping in the meat of the torque than over-revving a lower gear! ( one day i will try short shifting into 2nd once on full song and see how the turbos can pull, hehe).
Also the Ect button adjusts the TEMS equipped cars. NOrmal means Soft and Power means Medium. Drag racing requires nice soft suspension to allow what is called " Squat " or " weight tranfer".

awesome so if i got a dump pipe back exhaust (3" mandrel bent system) no cat (nice gear change flames) with 14psi a pod and i can flog a side mount super charged commodore (supposedly running 220rwkw)what kinda of time am i looking at? at a random guess. late 13s or early 14s..
also, boosting up to 14 pound, which is jus under your fuel cut limiter, does help a fair amount. but with a bog stock exhaust thats harder to achieve. opening up the exhaust as much as legally possible can make it alot easier to spool and boost away.
with the system i am running i have kept with a stroked 5 litre commodore ute untill 80ks, 2nd gear lol, and smoked the ass off a few silvias and skylines.
the only other car thats nailed me was a ford xr6 ute single turbo running 12pound :-(

Let tyres down to low 20s Wind boost up to 14PSI Do a nice burnout and hold the burnout to the start line if possible (that way you burn off the water)
Once at the start line: Foot on brake, pull handbrake, overdrive off, power off, throttle at around 50% - do this until revs get as high as you can go without wheelspin (2700-3000 if possible), then when light goes green flatten accelerator and release both brakes. Should get you your 13.

Hahaha ........ But don't laugh as AKA forgot that very thing. Hahaha On his 1st run he slowed down before the end of the 1/4
There is always a reason behind a phrase like that.hahaha He is going to kill me now.Hahahaha
Biatch!
Car next to me backed off towards the end so I thought we must have crossed. oh well, never made the same mistake again. I would be chasing a 13.2 after the uni exam period. Cant wait.
