Depends on how legal you want the car to be I guess? If you've gone all out on other stuff and don't mind adding one more thing to the list of what you can get done for then go right ahead. Just out of curiousity, is having that hose there really that much of a drama? Even if you have an aftermarket turbo setup, it only takes 30 seconds to plum it back in and can look even neater than the original if done right.

not really qa drama, just meens i got to run one more hose to the intake, i all ready had the air filter lying around so i thought y not hehe you cant really notice it. because the vac line that runs with it aint used either, as there is not a bov there anymore.

Ive done it, its no big deal its just breathing filtered air. Cops have bigger things to worry about on my car than a tiny little filter. You can barely see it anyway and i dont think they would know what theyre looking at even if they did see it.
For me its means just more emissions crap i can get rid of : ) but i can understand why most soarer owners wouldnt bothing with this mod.

i forgot to add that you have to bend one of those water pipes to fit the filter. no big deal i kinda just bent the securing tab a bit and rotated it. however its more prone to leaking now but im not worries cause ill never hook it back up again.
the sucking noise goes away when its warm but yeah its quite loud initially.

Can someone please explain to me in *simple* terms as to what this hose does and why it isnt just left to intake open air in the first place? Is it to keep it quiet or is there another reason.

the hose lets the valve take pre-filtered air from the intake system, instead of having a separate filter which would make too much noise for the manufacturers liking.
