Hi guys, I've had my TT for over 5 years now, and from day one, the temp gauge has always sat spot on in the middle and never gone any higher.
On the weekend i put in a new water pump and thermostat, and driving yesterday i noticed, just by driving with a little bit of boost around some back streets, or flooring it off the mark for a few seconds, the gauge stepped up a notch to beyond the halfway mark. Then after a bit of soft driving it seems to drop back down to halfway.
I'm just wondering is this normal, and could this be due to the new thermostat working more efficiently or something like that?

Last year my car would sit one notch below the centre, so I replaced the thermostat and manually checked the water temp after driving and it was spot on. Turned out it was the actual temperature sensor was faulty. Any mechanic should be able to swap it out for you. Neil, Castle Hill or S&LC should be able to get you one.
