Yesterday i went my mate's place to change rocker cover gasket. when we opened rocker cover, there was little bit of silicon around the cover. we took it off and cleaned the inside of cover with degreaser.then changed 0.8mm gapped iridium spark plugs. That is all we did and put all back. after that we started engine and found that there was strange rattling sound coming from engine. we switched off and put worn engine additive into it. then wait till let the engine warm up. after while that rattling sound is gone but i could hear whistling sound from intake or turbo area. sound gets bigger from around 3300 rpm on overdrive mode. we tried to find out what that is and could not find any physical leak point what so ever. it was not boosting. on the boost gauge it showed 1or 2 psi and when i put the pedal down to flat with white smoke is coming out of exhaust at high rev about 4000 or 5000 rpm. today i brought my car hi tech(Adelaide) to get on dyno and figured out rear turbo is not sucking air but seems like pushing the air back to front turbo. what we can think of is a small piece of silicon got into engine causes this problem. Apart from that nothing has been changed and touched. i wonder anyone in the forum has similar experience before so that i get bit of idea what i need to do. the only way to go may be replacing turbo? i went to fix small problem and came back with bigger one.. any idea or recommendation is welcome thanks Moo

When I changed the gasket on my old soarer I had the same problem when everything was connected back – there was a hissing noise and it wasn’t boosting.
I find out there was a small pipe at the back of the head/right of rear turbo that ran off the big pipe that runs along the back of the cam covers (water pipe?). Anyway once that was connected back up it ran perfectly. Have a look down there, it’s a bit hard to see but hopefully its something simple like that.
