funnily enough i found a fcd in my car the other day, it is the turbosmart one not current model, but a older one and i was wondering what voltage do i need to clamp it at to say run a max of 15psi..

The output voltage should be clamped to 4.25volts to keep it as rich as possible but eliminate boost cut...
By rich as possible... I mean for 15psi on a stock fuel system with the FCD as any more boost than 16psi is pushing it without dynoing it to check afr's and detonation.

i wired it in today, and found the safc to wired in the sam place, ie the trigger line is wired the same for the safc, so i was wondering is it needed? does the safc do the same job cheers,

The safc wont remove boost cut completely.. It depends on how much your trimming with the safc...
If you want to remove boost cut and tune it from there...
Wire in the FCD and clamp it to 4.25 volts. Then wire the SAFC after the fcd before the ecu and use the safc to tune it... This will guarantee removal of boost cut.
To check the fcd... Wire the Positive to 12V and Earth it to the battery. Then, The wire From the Map sensor, run 12V into it... Then the output wire which goes to the ecu, connect to Positive on the Multimeter and Earth the multimeter. Adjust the pot until you get 4.25V output, then hook it all back up.
If your checking it while its connected and just running the multimeter in the map/ecu wires, Make sure the Ignition is on the reds Although you will def get the correct readings when all + are connected to the same 12V supply.

i just soldered it to the same place that the safc was t'd so to speak into the wiring, i just wirded it there, so i guess both the fcd and safc are wired parraell to each other.. if that sort of makes sense. the safc, i have no idea how to tune it.. so i just leaving it, all i know is under full boost the a/f gauge still ready rich
