I hat to say this, but last time I had something like that, it was a big-end bearing.

Take it to a mechy and let them listn to it, trying to diagnost sounds over the internet is bloody hard, and it it's a bigend bearing, you want to get it fixed sooner rather than later, if caught quickly, it's not a major concern, but if it gets to the point where it grinds the crank away, then things become much harder to fix.

cheers but now i've got a major drama. Driving along i noticed that i lost all kick down, gearing up ok but changes at like 3 grand. I thought yeah ok vacuum line or kick down cable.

Got to the shops did what I had to do and came out started ok. Put in reverse and did not want to run. I got it going (missing and surging all over the place)- I've driven many a dodgy car.-

Any how I drove the two kays home and kind of 'farted' and the engine run fine again but still no kick down.. what the oh its 'low kay ' jap import gearbox.... the guy how fitted it didn't know the one he supplied and fitted was a chaser gearbox- idiot.

Yeah nar I know and injector noise but this noise i like a 'group' sound if know what i mean .
thanks guys..... Yeah now I'm rolling in a Saab.

check your gearbox oil level, low or high oil can cause no reverse, if it's near empty though, you might not be hearing this noise from the head, but filtering up from the front of the gearbox....

Ah, no correlation Blake. :-)
In fact, there is no subsequent feedback loop for oxygen sensors. If its not there - its not used.

I have been running without one for 6 months tuning for lean cruise air fuel ratios of around 16-17.5:1.

.... i had that noise, it will then dissappear, i then used nulon lifter free, thinking it will cure the noise, it turned out my rear exhaust wheel was 'wobbling' it then siezed and is now emmbeded in my cataliyc converter (hence is why im going single....)

all i know cihan is that my car ran really rich, idled badly, stalled, threw up engine electrical system warnings, and changed gear at 4000rpm max under full throttle. all these things were corrected by replacing 02 sensor. the wiring had a fault in it and was sending intermittent incorrect signals to computer. absolutely amazing that it influenced gear shift points.Amazing, but true.
