jumped in the car today, and under boost, around the 30 and above k's it surges..
do you reckon it could be the fuel pump ecu? but, it has stopped now, and all is good. what do you reckon? if fuel ecu how do i check it, i guess it a bit hard to do, when it not playing up

Try searching for Fuel Pump ECU Bypass for starters, lol.
Bridge FP and B+ in the diagnostics box in the engine bay to bypass the fuel pump ecu.
Make a wire that will work, put it in your centre console or glovebox until it happens again. Then use the wire to jump it. This will defaintely work out if thats the culprit.

i should have put that wire in the car it did it tonight... i think fuel pump gonna it self, can hear it whinning. so what i'm going to do is replace the pump so i'm chasing sum suggestions. something to support 300kw so i don't have to upgrade later on. next thing is wiring. i was going to wire it to the battery and use the fuel pump ecu to control a relay to switch the pump. does that sound right.
this is great just after i filled the fuel tank ahhaa.. also gonna replace the fuel ecu, just cause then i don't have to worry about it later, so yeah part number and a price would be good, same as fuel pump.. and a how to change it , i'm guessing it can't be to hard hahaha...

When the ECU works properly, it drops the pump down to 9 volts after startup, or when not under heavy load which makes the pump quieter. With the jumper in, some noise is normal.

Try bridging it before spending money on a fuel pump or fuel pump ecu so you can work out which it is Would hate to replace one if its the other one thats gone bust.

ha, well i bridged it just then took it for a drive, still not working it did change the noise of the pump, but yeah still leans out around the .25bar mark. and only under boost, if i just cruise around it fine :0 i think i might just go and get a pump tommorow, what you reckon is a ok one to get.. cheers
it runs fine, idels great, just under boost, i think the fuel pump is dying and cant supply the fuel..under boost.

it seems to be intermeitent in first gear, all other gears, it runs lean and wont go over about 2500rpm if i just cruise around it ok, just no load. but sumtimes i can rev it right out in first gear and it goes really well, sumtimes
now i have done the fuel ecu by pass and did not make a difference, also changed the fuel filter today, seems to be a fair bit of came out the filter even rattles. haha so yeah not changed for a while, now i think i need to pull the tank out and give it a real good clean. cause the fuel was brown, that came out of the filter..
do you reckon my pump could be buggered? just cant supply the fuel.. enough of it?
i'm relaly buggered for ideas. which i had a fuel pressure gauge, so i could see if it is dropping off. i think it is, cause the a/f gauge goes lean as soon as the engine gets to about 2500 rpm under about 50% + throttle anything below that it fine..

i just took it for another drive, and when i accelerate(hard) and back of just after it about to take off, i can hear the fuel pump whinning, so i'm guessing it stuffed worn out because of the that went throught it, that i found in the filter.
dont think the stock pump suppose to make noise like that, and it pretty loud, do not think it use to do this either, can someone confirm, also what the best way to empty the tank?

Hi mate not too sure but if you can rig up a amp meter to the fuel pump feed it should tell you whats going on as you may be getting air in the system hence noisey pump

yeah i just order a fuel pump.. see if that fixes it need to upgrade anyway. there was a lot of dirt and in the filter so my guess is pump buggered. so i going to change it clean the tank and flush all the lines.. and then see how that goes..

Going back a bit...
Michael...
Seems like I might be having a similar problem - was it the fuel pump or did you manage by just cleaning out your tank? How did you flush out the fuel tank / system?
