Hey, I've just been up in the garage for the last hour or two doing the bigger air intake mod (found on this site) to my soarer. Once I was finished, it was only boosting 7 pounds (usually boosts 10), and making an insane hissing noise followed by a b.o.v noise when I took my foot off of the gas (it has no b.o.v), I decided it might be time to head home and kept an eye on the boost gauge when I could, it was boosting less and less, and is now only boosting about 4 pounds... So as you can imagine I'm a little peeved at the problem with my new car, does anyone have any advice on what the problem may be?

Check your intercooler pipeing and clamps... Could have a leak? Did you undo any of the intercooler pipes? OR maybe you have split the top intercooler pipe whilst cutting something?

Yeah I had to take the pipes off to get to the bolts that hold the headlight in, I'll wait until daylight tomorrow to check but I thought that might be it. There are three joins under the front drivers side guard and it's not easy to see under there either. I hope it's as simple as that though :s

I'm just in the middle of my morning coffee, I'll be off out to the garage shortly to pull everything to pieces and find out what's going on. I shouldn't take long, I'll keep you guys posted.

Ok, so not 20 minutes spent in the garage, wheel off and head up under the guard and I saw this:

I don't know how well you can see in the pic, but around the back of the pipe (or front, whatever way you look at it) the rubber joiner was pretty much popped right off of the intecooler. So I've put it all back together properly (hopefully), I do recall doing a rough job on that particular hose clamp last night because I was tired and I couldn't see properly, but it's been done properly nowso hopefully that's the end of it. I havn't test driven it yet because it's still up on the jack but will do in the next half hour or so.
Here's a pic of the finished BFI anyway +++ attachment +++ 233991 +++ Upload +++

Lol I left the garage unlocked and sh*t everywhere too :p And the house is down a nice long flight of stairs. My excuse is it was cold in the garage.

Oh and btw, I've tested it now, it's boosting about 11 pounds after the BFI, well worth my time :-) And much better than the pod filter that was on there.

Seems to be a trend here...

Do a BFI/air box mod and blow an intercooler hose on the test drive. Might be a tip for young players here. After doing such mod, go over the rest of the inlet tract and tighten all the hose clamps.

Speaking from experience of course. Learning the hard way may hurt, but it sure makes you learn.

Yeah i was an easy fix, I wouldn't really call it lerning the hard way, but I did learn to be more careful, it could've been worse. It was a pain in the a$$ taking off the wheel and all that bollocks though. And maaaan did it sound cool with that loose pipe :p it's kinda tempting to roll like that all the time hahaha... But that would just be idiotic haha
