Desperate help wanted from Blighty!
If the mods don't object, I've put the contents of my TIF (UK) post below ... it's really turning into a puzzle!!
Any suggestions much appreciated and YES, I have thought of buying a Supra!
91 TT, 80k miles.
1. Well, she's been pretty good to me for 8 years! Regular service ... important bits - oil (syn), filters etc. New hydraulic hoses fitted by me for PS and new water pump. That's about it ...
BUT .... quite suddenly, a louder than usual TURBO whine (high pitch), whereas before it was like a quiet jet on take-off.
Is there any hope?? Anything else other than imminent self-destruct which could be causing a loud whine? No loss of power (yet!). Starts around 2k revs if I plant my foot. Am I gonna have to replace both? £2k????? Is a quick new oil change gonna have any effect? 5000k since last one.
Help!
2. OK, so here's the quandary ... car up on ramp ... all turbo hose and other connections checked for leaks. Intercooler also OK. One loose clamp; tightened.
Test drive .... exactly as before - loud high pitched kick in at 2k revs ... everything sounds smooth and whizzy as normal.
NO BOOST!!!!!
Even the garage doesn't want to fit new turbos as it all seems fine and dandy with spooling up and no smoke etc!

You might be lucky and got the first batch....There is a couple of members that has the first batch and have no drama's to date with them....My one's blew after pushing 18psi through them.Keep them at 15psi and they should last longer.

My ebay steelies just blew their oil seals, although I think it was provoked by running the car dry of oil at full noise and then turning it off without a cool down. Best to just buy quality

Hehe wish that was the reason ;) But it certainly speeds things along...I wasn't planning on getting a big single til later this year. Hopefully nobody outbids me!
