Fcd costs like $60 and works pretty well on alot of 1j and 2j's on a budget .. AND its resellable :-) While there may be " no tuning " they run a pretty decent map and fuel setup to get around on until you can afford the ecu .

If you are strapped for $$$ after doing the turbos and such, then grab an fcd until you save.

My 2cents,

I dont really think there is a cheap turbo upgrade they all end up costing big $$$.

For example i went the Hybrid Turbo route.

I simply wanted the engine bay to look standard and get decent power (300rwkw when i had ALL mods to go with it, which i still dont)

So when i did my turbo setup it cost me around:

*Hybrid CT12as = $3500
*440cc Injectors = $300
*Lews Dump Pipe = $700 (your pretty much crazy if you dont upgrade the dump pipe when your turbos come off, so dump pipe is a MUST)
*Apexi Power FC + Boost control kit = $1950 (you will need a decent ECU setup and EBC)

I already had a pod filter, exhaust and FMIC fitted. So add 2k for exhaust and FMIC.

*2x Cam Gears = $300

Which got me 270rwkw at 20psi.

At the end of the day if you want 300rwkw you will also need a Fuel Pump, Cams, 540 - 650cc Injectors. (Which are my next mods)

Now on top of all this you have to pay Labour if you dont do it yourself.

So its not cheap and its not that easy to get 300rwkw. Not as easy as one thinks it is. Unless you have plenty of money and can drop it off to a tuner and say i want 300rwkw when i pick my car up.

Thank you Christian Molenda for possibly the most insulting and pointless post i have ever recived in my 2+years on this forum, if your not going to add anything useful then can you please just keep your useless comments to yourself!

Also i don't really know what type of children they have working of cars up north but 300+kw is not that hard from what i have seen from the 1JZ, its does not take a truck load of money if your smart about it.

Hey Daniel,
just to throw my two bobs worth in, what brand of FCD do you recommend and where can they be obtained from?
cheers David

Thanks to all who have given me real help with my questions, its good to know what i'm up for, also i never wanted a "cheap" turbo set up but i think some people fail to realise that you don't have to spend huge amounts to get a good smooth running powerful car, if it's done smart then it will cost less, i'm not hiding from the fact that this will cost thousands, money is not a problem, i just don't want costs to spiral out of control, but thank you for the advice.

also Christian, learn to spell.

David, I was using the Greddy Boost Cut controller.. Worked well.. 4 wires, easy to wire in, and had an adjustable Pot inside it. I think you can get them for under $100 new or keep an eye out for second hand ones,

yep i knew he was using the Blitz ecu, i wasnt sure if it removed any limiters thou. but you cant change the settings of the blitz ecu is that correct. if so that would be why he is using the fcd to change the air/fuel ratio from being to rich?

Hey Daniel,
what did you do with your old Greddy Boost Cut Defender once you put in the Blitz? Have you still got it and if so are you interested in parting with it for a price?
cheers David

If i had it mate it would already be in your hands, it was sold after i installed the blitz..

As for AFR controls, with running 17psi of boost, the afr's are in the mid 11's and jumping into the mid 12's with the Blitz i have... Thats why i cannot run any more boost as i run out of fuel.. However, hopefully an EMB will fix that in the future.
