Dont assume your turbos are fine! Pay and get them properly checked, as mentioned.. Just cause they dont havve shaft play doesnt mean the seals are shot!

Braden ( Ribfeast) has this issue at the moment with a set of steelies! No shaft play, but burning more oil than a Mcdonalds Fry machine!

Well, I don't think it's right, but I just took that intake pipe off and it's as dry as a bone.

Mine developed the telltale death whine around the same time. Not too loud at this stage, but I'm sure it will get worse. 7000RPM, running out of oil, and turning off the engine without a cool-down all at the same time probably was the cause ;)

do you mean the big rubber pipe between the intercooler and the intake manifold?
Sorry some things need to be dumbed down a bit for me :p

On the 1JZ, there is a 90 degree pipe that comes up next to the battery and connects to the throttle body (the thing with all the cables and pipes coming off it, the one that's usually touchable after a good thrashing when compared to the other side).

Remove this 90 degree rubber/metal (mine's metal with a BOV on it) and run our fingers inside the throttle body (part still attached to the car when you remove the pipe.

If you have clumps of black oozing oil, your turbos are farked badly.

if it is white, there your oil seals in the turbo have failed. white smoke is oil into the exhaust system after combustion. blue is oil which has gone through combustion cheers. get them turbos checked, you will find it to be them..

rubber pipe is generaly intake to the turbo, if there oil is in there, it is coming from the engine breather, alloy piping is pressure, or hard plastic. or sutmhing which can handle the boost. and the pressure side is general smaller then the intake to the turbo. oil usually forms on the pressure side of turbo's cheers

Cheers, man big help. Thanks for the dumbing down lol but yeah I got it right the first time, my throttle body is bone dry :-) I turned the car on this morning, the smoke is definately white, and there'sa fair bit of it. Also - when revved, the car sounds like it is missing. I did notice that my coil leads looked a bit poked but they're all in place, it just sounds like it's running on 4 cylenders or something...?
