As you know I have problems with my soarer(posts below)
I need to check if the MAF sensor(or is it Air Flow meter) is functioning properly.
Please tell me what to check for and the specs of it like ( volts, amps, ohms) whatever i need to check. It is at the mechanics now and they are trying to eliminate all the problems. Now the car is starting but giving out black smoke(overfueling) so he reckons coolant temp sensor or MAF sensor. Will get a new coolant temp sensor.

hi, it called a map sensor, manifold absolute pressure.
i would say check you fuel pressure. that is what caused mine to pump larges amount of fuel at idle. because the pressure reg, was closed on return so i had max pressure. about 80-90psi hehehe . but tell you mechanic to check it. and the vac hose going to it as well cheers. hope i helped.

The mechanic put the fuel pressure tester after the fuel filter ( under the car) The fuel pressure was low. I don't know where the overfueling is from(black smoke).
Who fixed your car Micheal.any good mechanics in campbelltown area NSW. I am willing to tow it to mechanics around sydney but prefer campbelltown as that's where my car is now.

i'm a mechanic so i fixed it my self. hehe check rail pressure. cheers. also check the idle control valve. but yeah mine was fuel pressure, fitted a new reg, and replaced the line to the reg. also make sure the line is on the correct nipple. on the manifold. i do remember ready some where that it did matter which one it was on cheers. also if the fuel pressure was low, you might not get proper atomisation of the fuel and it could just be dribbling out the injector, and runing into the cylinder.. when you say low how low? tell him to change the fuel filter it could be blocked, that why the fuel pressure is low. my filter was that bad, it rattled hehe.. so yeah replace the fuel filter check rail pressure and get back to me cheers.

The Fuel pressure will also be lower at idle as the pump is being controlled by the Fuel Pump Ecu which will be running it at around 9.0volts on light/part throttle, and as throttle / boost increases, it switches over to run 12volts Helps with emmisions and also help fuel economy.
