Open it up.. Try a search, but from memory, the Torsen Type 1 Has an open style spool, where you can see the worm gears.. The Type 2 Looks like its locked down in an Assylum.. Very enclosed, unable to view the worm gears or anything..
SOrry its the best i can explain it at the moment,lol.. Will try and find some pics for you!

wish i had have known that before i bought my box bout a year ago... because it made a mess of my open center diff. doesn't matter now with my trd 1.5 in it place. although i did get 9 months out of it before it did spit the dummy

You will be ok with a Torsen and Shift Kit...
Daniel Clarke has a torsen and Shift Kit and ive lost count at the ammount of times he has been down the 1/4mile with that setup.
So by all means mate go the Shift Kit and Torsen...You will need both. Not having a Shift Kit will wreck your gearbox quicker. Not having a Torsen will wreck your Open Wheeler Diff. (With the ammount of power you will eventually have)

the 1.5 shift kit is not as harsh as the stage 2(no longer made). the stage 2 destroyed my torsen, but it took about 4-5 years to do it, and i race with sticky tires. Daniel has a stage 1 shift kit. Oh, Daniel, i raced last weekend and my 60 footers improved from a pb of 1.82 to 1.73,1.72,1.72,1.71 but a top end miss(coil cracked maybe?) meant that my ET only improved to 12.41 sec.

DO you have a complete Diff to swap over? If so that shouldnt take more than about 1.5 hours with the right tools
You will need 10mm Hex(socket preffered) for the driveshaft bolts, and 12mm Hex(socket again) for the rear diff bolts that hold it in the cradle I bought some 1/2 inch drive sockets. the 10mm is easier if you get a longer one, but the 12mm can be a shorter type. Makes the job so much easier as you can crack them and torque them back up properly

I have the complete housing to swap, just waiting for it to arrive. I didn't think it would have been to hard to do, maybe a bit of a challenge when no hoist to use though.

Hmm looks like it may take a little while to get it tuned. Hitech are moving to a different location and are flat out next 3 weeks.
And went to another dyno tuning place and they didn't know what an Emanage was......
But in reality i can't get it there anyway until after easter weekend, so i will still be going to Hitech. Been there few times with friends cars and the owner John knew what he was doing.
