I recently installed a boost guage and O2 guage just for shizt and giggles.

Anyway, boost is sweet, the guage is a boost only guage, shows the car come on nice and quick, come up to 13 - 14psi and sit there quite happily through the rev range.

The weird obvservation is the O2 guage shows the car SUPER LEAN constantly, and by lean, it's at the furthest point of LEAN.

Interesting thing is that I had left the car over the long weekend, from Thursday night to Monday mornign and when I started her up, she was on Lean as normal, so I just ignored it, but after a minute of driving, it started flickering around from Lean to Stoich, and touched the rich bar a couple of times.

It continued to do this for a further 5 minutes going nuts back and forth before settling down and going back to stupidly lean again.

I know for a fact it's not lean, because I adjusted the SAFC II to push as much fuel as possible in, without it making a difference to the guage, but it started blowing carbon and fuel out the exhaust, so it's certainly not leaning out.

Anyway, my thoughts are possible fault on guage, or time for an O2 sensor.

Your O2 sensor is broken. When they break they get stuck usually around 0.1-0.2 volts which indicates lean, so your engine ecu runs the engine rich, all the while the o2 sensor keeps saying lean.

The needle bouncing around is what should happen on a narrowband gauge. Mine jumps up and down under light throttle etc. That's just because the stock 02 sensor is a narrowband sensor and only sends signals from 0V to 1V in .1V incriments. Meaning while driving around the sensor is constantly telling the ecu to put more fuel in, then cut it, then put more fuel in etc. Maybe if the gauges calculated the average signal on light throttle it would remain still i'm not sure.. Soon as i dump the throttle, i hit full blown rich, and it stays there. I need a tune!!!

But yeah, your 02 sensor is buggered.

Luke,

It was under cold idle.

Otherwise it doesnt move at all and sits on lean.

I figured the O2 sensor as stuffed, had already ordered a new one, but this is confirmation :-)

Thanks,

B.
