been a while since ive posted but i have embarked on yet another upgrade fro ye old soarer.
As I speak, im getting my trans fully rebuilt, will let you know the outcome. Kinda hoping for a suistainable 350rwkw box...
meanwhile, Im looking at a to4z and I have one available to me for $3k NZ dollars. it comes with downpipe attachment gasket, oil feed. anti surge etc Unfortunately it has 1.00ar rear turbine exit, wich is not ideal for response?
Thoughts, opinions? how will this respond in a built auto 2jz? I guessI could always change the rear housing. Could I get my tuner to tune if it lacks power down low?

Yes it will lack power down low. If you are aiming at 350rwkw, why dont you just got a garret 35r turbo. They are more than capable of making that and will not suffer anywhere near as bad with lag.

In terms of tuning, what can you do to positively engage boost pressure lower in the rpm.
Exhaust tuning; tuned length exhaust manifold, well designed collector and large diameter dump + front pipe.
Flow tuning; With 1 and 2JZ's concerned, correctly spec'ed aftermarket camshafts and adjustable cam gears. Depending on whether the setup is staggered or not, more intake advance than exhaust retard is always better for boost response with minimal impact on topend. A non-restrictive intercooler and a well designed intake manifold will also make a huge difference when running very large turbo's.
Management tuning; A standalone or good piggyback will make a big difference. Progressive AFR's with good timing transitions = better response and a faster car.
IMO with a turbo in the size range of the T61, overall the most important thing is the exhaust manifold design and dump pipe size, followed by management tuning.
Cihan, I was pushing a consistent 305rwkw with the previous set-up with a number of road dynos. I will be using pretty much the same supporting mods so it will be interesting to see the end result.
Currently using an Ems stinger so will see what the tuner says.
Im pretty sure the manifold and dump pipe is quite OK, will have to do straight through front intake pipe. I have no cat to restrict exhaust flow.

Shyam,i can supply a GT3540 for you with a .82 rear housing for $1900 new, which is perfect for an auto 2jz. if you put on that t04z, with the big exhaust housing, my stock-turbo soarer will spank you on the strip.IN MY OPINION
