I just noticed on the Highway a couple of days ago the factory TEMP guage went one square hotter then the nomal middle it usualy stays at.
It was 13C outside and I was doing 120-130KM/H for about 1 Hour with the Climate Controll system turned off. The first time I noticed it I pulled over and within 30 seconds it went to normal, I let the car sit for 10 minutes and then went back on the road. About 15 minutes later it went back up one square hotter. I then switched on the heater at full blast and the engine temp went right back to normal.
Is this a sign of a major problem?
I received the Car from Japan in November.
The oil has been changed twice and I'm running Quaker State Full Synthetic 10W30, The coolant was changed in November also.
When I shut off the car I hear a gurgling sound. The Heater takes 20 minutes to heat the interior when the car is at -20C.
I have had the Heater Core flushed and preasurized and it still gurgels a bit.
The car has 67000kms.
Thats about all the background I have.
I'm concerned because In about a month I plan on doing a full 3inch turbo back exhuast, boost controler and cam gears. I don't want to overheat the engine and when I do the FMIC it might make it worse because the RAD will receive less cold air.
Twice I found water in the oil at the filler cap. Both times was after a car wash. I replaced the oil cap and haven't had that problem. Once had the car studder a bit like water in a distrbutor after a car wash, took about 1 hour of driving to clear it out.
I guess thats all I have for info, hopefully someone can help?

If it is the Thermostat...
1) Drain coolant via the tap in the Left hand side of the vehicle on the bottom of the radiator. 2) Remove Bottom hose from Thermostat housing. 3) Use a 12mm Deep Socket ( or long socket ) and some long extension bars for the 2 bolts holding the thermostat housing on. 4) remove thermostat from housing, clean well. 5) replace new thermostat + Gasket ( should be a rubber ring around the thermostat) 6) PLace back on block and tighten both 12mm bolts . 7) Replace coolant ( I advise to only use Toyota Red genuine items). 8) Start car and turn heater ON. 9) Top up coolant in radiator and allow engine to come up to operating temperature. ( should have removed any air pockets by now). 10) Reaplce Radiator cap ( buy a new one, as they sometimes can be an issue also).

these cars never run hotter than normal(middle square on temp gauge) unless a problem is developing. replace your thermostat. if that doesn't fix it, remove radiator and have tanks removed, core cleaned, then reassembled. i can almost guarantee your problem will be nipped in the bud.

I am just wondering if anyone knows of the thermostat from another Toyota OR the 2JZ motor will work for my car. As I am in Canada getting 1JZ parts is a bit difficult.

Thanks for the help guys,
new problem though.
just started puffing black smoke when i step on the gas, regardless of weather or not i hit boost.
if my car is parked and i step on the gas, a bit of black smoke comes out followed by white smoke lightly puffing out while it idles.
yesterday the oil was completly clean and now it is dirty.
the car still seems to run very well and it is totally stock.
i have had milky oil when i first got the car in the winter but i haven't had that problem for the last two months (milky color always appeared after i washed under the hood).
it also seems now that when I wash under the hood the car seems to hessitate like when a distributor gets water in it.
i thought it could be the coilpacks but would that explain the dirty oil?
the car was not quite at normal temp when this happened.
