Thanks for the links but I'll just be rebuilding what I already got. Like the idea of a new start with a freshly rebuilt engine and everything being brought back up to par.
With our gas prices doubling over the last year or so, I'm going to get something better on gas for a daily driver and keep the all new soarer as a evening/weekend car. Or at least that's the end plan.

We have done well Dan of late with aussie dollar so high. If we didn't have the resource boom we would be paying way over 2 bucks for 91 unleaded. Some countries have been hit really hard with the massive increase in crude prices. One example I've read about is Iceland.
The way things are going however, I think over the longer term, 6-12 months (oil-price.net projections show 168 a barrel in 1 year, and the projections keep going up), we might see 2 buck petrol even with our high aussie dollar.

Economic growth will slow over the next 5 years with the changes Labor is making to relieve inflation. The current fuel excise is most likely staying the same so expect fuel prices to grow quite fast..
Without turning this in to a political debate, I think reducing inflation is more important than fuel prices so i've got no problem with the governments decisions.

The truth is Osama Bin Laden (you know, the opium smoking terrorist the US can't find) told us years ago that barrel prices should be well over US$100 a barrel back then when the US dollar was worth a lot more - he was right.
I think the Germans are doing things the right way. They're pouring billions into a Solar infrastructure over the next 20 odd years and offering big discounts/cash incentives to citizens investing into it so its actually making people money while the technology improves in the mean time*. It seems only reasonable that German car manufacturers are working on electric vehicle and related battery technology prototypes to coincide with the infrastructure. They could be ready to unleash a spectrum of normal looking long range EV cars by the time the Solar infrastructure is making enough energy, all while our home grown engineers are hard at work making pushrod barges more environmentally friendly.

OK well big update since i've been gone for a long time...
Slightly new plans for the car, First off i'll be going 1.5JZ with a brand new toyota assembled 2JZ shortblock and a single GT35R!!!
Because of the lack of part availability and the amount of work involved in assembling the entire bottom end myself i have decided to just buy the assembled 2JZ shortblock straight from Toyota.
I have sourced a great 1JZ T4 single manifold that while is not quite the same quality as the 6Boost manifold is much much better than the ebay mani's. Proper 6 into 1 merge and properly braced.
Genuine Garrett unit for the turbo. 0.82 AR and a 3" Vband exit. Undivided T4 inlet.
All the assorted goodies that should be replaced with wonderful brand new toyota bits and pieces.
Now just have to get cracking on it and make some progress. Looks like i also have a sponsorship on the paint so i may be repainting the car with a show quality job.
That's all for now but will be taking many pictures along the way and possibly a tutorial should i be stupid enough to try to remember all that i did.
thats all for now
