Hi guys, can someone please tell me whereabouts the ECU coolant temp sensor is located on a 1JZ? I'm trying to track down an erratic misfiring problem, my R31 Skyline had the same problem (bad misfire when taking off from a standing start) which turned out to be a corroded coolant temp sensor plug.

Cheers

On the water neck that comes off the drivers side of the head there are 2 temp sensors, the sensor with 1 wire is for the gauge in the dash and the sensor with 2 wires is for the ecu

It makes sence to be located there. This is where the hottest water leaves the engine on route to the radiator. Engine temp is always measured by the hot water leaving the engine. PS if your running a standard 82 degree thermostat, water will leave the engine a approx 91 degrees when the engine is at operating Temps.

I meant under all the piping, fan shroud etc. Really fiddly to access it unless you have small Japanese hands . Cheers for the info tho, you learn something new every day.
