I have a 'clunk' coming from the area near the drivers footwell in my car. It occurs when there is a change of direction or weight shift in the car, ie gentle undulations. I can feel the clunk through the accelerator pedal as well.
I first thought the LCA's might be worn out but no amount of jacking, prodding, banging etc could help find the noise, or any visibly ruined bushes.
I am now wondering if it could be the engine mount(s)? I used a jack under the gear box to take some load off the mounts and there seemed to be quite a bit of movement in the drivers side mount, about 6-8mm. I will try and get in there with some light and get a picture.

It's possible, my old GT4 made almighty clunks when releasing the clutch when revving a bit. Turns out the engine mounts were screwed. After getting them replaced, all was as good as new

OK. So I got some light on the situation and believe my drivers side engine mount is stuffed. This may or may not be the source of my clunk, but I guess they need replacing.
I'll fire off an email to Castle Hill tonight.

Ben, also fire an email off to Parts@billbuckle.com.au, tell them Brian sent you, and give them Castle Hill's price, and I am sure they will beat it ;)
BTW, if you want 2nd hand, my engine mounts are in good condition, and pickup is available anytime (need to take them off the car).

Iv'e already organised with CHT. $85 each for both Soarer and Supra OEM mounts. I'll probably stick with the soarer ones as the set in there lasted 102000km/15 years(as James kindly pointed out).
I am not totally convinced it is the engine mounts making the clunk. Getting on and off the throttle I can't replicate the noise. Neither does depressing and releasing the clutch.
I can definitely feel it through the accelerator pedal as the car moves over undulations in the road surface.
Is there any sure fire ways to check the LCA/UCA bushes? I have tried to load and unload the wish bone with a jack but couldn't detect any real movement.

Cheers mate. I'll check em all when I'm under there doing the engine mounts.
I got a bad feeling this is going to be one of those dramas that I'm going to spend hours looking for, and when I find it it will be obvious. I've had the wheels off that many times in the last week I feel like a pit crew man.

Righto.
I have replaced both the engine mounts. The passenger (left) one was good but I replaced it anyway. $85 each side. The gearbox mount is fine. The subframe bolts (and just about any bolt I could get at) is tight- they weren't loose. The exhaust is where it has always been and would have to swing a long way to hit anything.
I will go for a drive once the missus gets home and see if the noise is gone. Fingers crossed.

That clunk was indeed the engine mounts. I had a similar clunk developing this year and that was the LCA bush. I swapped another pair of second hand arms in, but will have to buy new bushes sooner or later as it is developing again.
This clunk was characterised by a large clunk on the first brake application after reversing out of my driveway. Also happened on hard brake applications or slow gentle weight shifts like crawling into a driveway.
