ive just had my waterpump done, no more leaks anywhere but the cars still overheating. its steams out through the overflow bottle. bought a new radiator cap as old one was stuffed but this only made it heat up faster, so ive got the cap loosened a little to ease the pressure. ive got water in the radiator at the moment, havnt put in red coolant yet as it wasnt on hand, not sure if the lower boiling point has anything to do with it or if the problem is more serious. any suggestions?

Could be an Air Lock in the system still? Drain water, install Red Toyota coolant, Bleed system of all air ( ie, turn heater tap on when filling up and wait for thermostat to open, top up and place radiator cap on ). See how it goes then.

It sounds bad to me.
Replace thermostat in case its Dead. What is the radiator like? is the core clean, what was the water like that came out right back at the start of your problems? Is there any milky oil under the oil filler cap? is the Fan hub (clutch fan) working correctly? are the fan shrouds fitted?
And yes coolant might help, but I would say you have greater problems then that.

I thought when the Clutches in the Hub play up, it actually locks up? which is a good thing, so when it does go, it still works ! Toyota thinking ahead on that one.
Yeah, Thermostat change is definate. Do this before installing the coolant.

yeah, thats what i think too, makes most sense as everything was fine before water pump got done so probably filled with rusty gunk. ill get it properly high pressure flushed at a radiator place on payday, didnt think a garden hose would do me much good.
for future reference, is there any way of getting to the radiator drain tap without taking off a few pipes?

Your turbine CAN get sucked back into the motor so its best not to drive it... Once the rear wheel removes itself the front wheel can start scraping the inside of the housing, sending small fragments into your intercooler and some may make it through and into the engine itself.
I would avoid driving it unless you drastically need to.. Alternatively, you could install a cheap Pod filter on the throttle Body and drive it like a N/A car i guess?
