Hi everyone,

I recently got a '91 TT Soarer. The thing drives really nice but the only problem that I'm stuck with is the fact that the radiator fan blade is broken and therefore causing engine vibration. Three of the seven blades on the fan are broken (all 3 on one side) and causing the engine to vibrate a lot. I cant find a replacement blade from where I live for the 1jzgte so I'm wonder if I can simply replace it with a fan blade from a 2jzgte supra? If anyone can assist me in this issue, it'd be greatly appreciated. Better yet, does anyone know where I can get a replacement fan blade specifically for the Soarer? Thanks in advance!

Ray, I can't help with the fan, but be careful until it's replaced, the rest can disintegrate at high revs and punch holes in your bonnet etc.

Hi Ray,

I'm thinking that Alberta is in Canada. Yes?

If so, you may find it easier to get some of these hard-to-get parts from local sites or maybe even in the States.

www.Driftmotion.com - based in the States - seems to have a huge range of Supra and (to a lesser extent) Soarer stuff but what's also nice about them is that they seem pretty savvy technically. I reckon they'd know if anyone is bringing parts in to the States from Japan. You'd want to find someone who's maybe bringing in front halves from wrecked Soarers in Japan.

There are quite few guys here in Australia who do that sort of thing but the mail/freight will probably make it an expensive proposition to be buying from someone down here. And even then, there's always the problem of how long will a second hand part last once you've gone to all that trouble and expense.

There is also a huge Soarer site in England, with a bunch of guys who seem really interested in all the mechanical aspects of these great cars and freight across the Atlantic wouldn't be as prohibitive as it would from Melbourne to Alberta.

Just Google Soarer and go from there.

Peter Nitschke is right with his warning about the damage an out-of-balance fan can cause. Do be careful.

Let us know how you go.

Thanks a lot for your advice guys, I really appreciate it! Yea it's really unfortunate that there isn't as big of a Soarer community here in Canada as there is Australia. I just can't believe how a 3 broken fan blades can cause so much trouble haha. Anyways, thanks again.

Ray, the Toyota part number for the fan is: 16361- 88400, and is common to ALL JZZ30 Turbo Soarers from 5/1991 - 12/2000.

2JZGE's (Soarer & Supra) use a different fan blade assy, BUT they MAY fit

So if you can't buy a NEW one, just ask any supplier for a Soarer TT fan, and it'll be the right one.

VVT-i is different to Non VVT-i

To use the 2JZ fan, you need the 2JZ Water Pump.
