Depends on how much power your 2JZGTE is putting out and what condition your existing transmission is in. The A340 transmission is a tough unit and is the same unit used in Auto Supra's anyway - BUT if you are upping the output it would be a good idea to think about extra cooling. If your transmission has had a tough life and poor service history it might not last long if you are pumping a lot of extra power thru it.

you need to use the soarer flex plate and stall convertor. the 2jz trans is stronger(has an extra clutch in 2nd gear i think) but needs the 2JZ engine ECU to control the line pressure, so is usually not an option in a soarer. a good condition box with a shift kit and a trans cooler should live happily behind a 2jz , unless you upgrade the turbos

sounds awesome. but when i think about it, it doesn't take into account the 1jz valve body needing the kick down/line pressure cable, which the 2jz box doesn't have.

I've just setup a 2jgte transmission for Cihan, If you are using a 2jzgte transmission you need to use the 2jzgte flex plate, 2jzgte torque converter and the bolts that bolt the converter to the flexplate as they are also different.
The 1jzgte valve body does fit the 2jzgte transmission and there are previsions in the 2jzgte transmission case for the kickdown cable and solenoid plug wiring that the 1jzgte valve body requires.
You will also need to get a tailshaft made to suit as the back of the 2jzgte transmission has the 3 bolt flange where the 1jzgte transmission has a slip yoke.
The 2jzgte transmission has a extra clutch on Forward Clutch (C1) and Direct Clutch (C2)

thanks for clearing that up cameron, well done. this conversion is a good option if you intend to run up to 350rwkw. a supra here in NZ ran 350rwkw drag racing for quite some time, and didn't damage it until he used NOS during a gear change. Yes, i am suggesting that a 2jz auto box(in good condition) with a shift kit and a trans cooler can survive up to around 350rwkw. please note, that Mike(MV automatics) does not agree with me on this figure.
