hi everyone. after a short drive i came back to my house and noticed that there was coolant leaking from underneath my car. had a quick look under there and it was only on the bottom of the radiator.
pulled the rad out today to inspect it and i can see these coolant marks on the front (faces away from drivers seat)
this a sign that my bottom tank is stuffed? if so is it easier to get another radiator, or get the tank repaired... or even one of those "stop leak" style products.
used one in my brothers pulsar and seemed to work pretty ok when he had head gasket issues.
i had a leaking battery a while back and i thought that maybe some of the acid might have chewed a hole in the radiator, but the leaks are more towards the drivers side away from the battery. and cleaning the acid with bi-carb soda has left white stains everywhere making it hard to diagnose whats coolant and whats bi-carb soda.

Get the thank repaired prob cost around $300 and they can flush it out at the same time make sure it's flowing good. at least that way you KNOW it's good.

WHat condition is the top tank in? NOrmally if there is a leak elsewhere that gets fixed, it then pops out the next weakest point.
My advice would be new bottom and top tanks and the core flushed as well Saves paying twice the labour and twice the amount of coolant too !
My top tank started leaking, once they removed it, the bottom looked like yours.. SO i was advised by Niall to do top and bottom tanks and flush the core Neva looked back and runs like a dream, never over halfway . Hot days or Even on hot nights at the drags too.

Yeah. Depends on pricing i guess... But i never muck around with cooling systems... I had bad 2nd degree burns to my quadracep and knee from an overheating system before... Not fun i tell ya !

Got a phone call at 9:05 this morning..."your radiator is ready" Bloody horse race.
I got it back- it is basically a new radiator. New tank, cleaned inside and out, all fins straightened, and repainted. I cannot recommend Natrad(Singleton at least) highly enough. Just don't expect them to work through horse races. I'm taking the road car in next week to have a complete overhaul of the Air con. I'm regassing it twice a year now.
