HEy guys, I've got the funds sitting in my account... Just thought I'd better consult you lot first
So, I don't think I need advice on the single turbo manifold, that's a given... But the turbo I'm going for is a T3/T4, good/bad, opinions? I'm also going for a 38mm external (no need to over-do it)
Then all the rest, oil lines etc. I brought an EBC on trademe but the prick ripped me off... No solenoid
I need a fuel cut defender (already got a speed cut defender ) and mod the exhaust piping to fit the turbo but other than that I don't think I'm missing anything?
Cheers.
Tim.
Oh and I'm picking up some new Drift R mags tomorrow, 18x10 rear and 18x8.5 fronts. What a score for $1395 (with new tyres)

not always true Daniel... depends how hard he wants to push it.
Prob just an SAFC tune would do the trick. If its one of those ebay turbos then i wouldnt be running much boost through the sucker anyways as they dont seem to perform too well from what ive read.
If you get a SAFC you prob wont need the FCD as when i installed mine it stopped me getting fuel cut also which was a relief.

i agree james. i recently went into nizzpro here on the gold coast as they have a gearbox for me, and while i was there i asked about single turbo conversion. he said all u need is the turbo, manifold and new lines. no need for bigger injectors or aftermarket ecu if your running relatively low boost so i say it can be done as he said, hope this helps mate

Andrew, You can max the injectors out with the standard turbos easily and make upto 250rwkw. So why do you want to go single turbo if your not aiming for that much power?
The only thing you will do here is induce lag and reduce drivability.
If your going to do the conversion, do it right the first time.
If your on a budger, then i wouldnt do any less than a s-afc2, 440's running about 16psi. That would net you about 240-260rwkw depending on turbo choice. You shouldnt need a fuel cut defender either as you will be trimming the map signal when tuning with those injectors and you should have some headway with those injectors. This will be a nice power level also.
M 2c worth!
As for manifolds, alot of people going for the chinese s/steel ones and give them praise, BUT how long have they had them on their cars for? mine lasted 2 years / 20,000km and it had more crack in it than Ben Cousins back pocket.
Get a propper 6boost manifold and its gauranteed against this and also will flow better. As for turbo, cant go past garret for value and quality or a Mr Turbo billet turbo if you have a little more to spend

A good mate of mine has single turbo'd his soarer, done nothing but turbo, manifold and lines. His seems to go fine, runs smooth, sh*ts all over my soarer...
I was thinking of maybe going for a GT35 turbo rather than a T3T4, they have small exhaust housings and big compressors so I'm assuming that would be less lag?
I'm not really intending on running any more than 18 pounds, I'm aiming for the 220-230rwkw mark.

220-230rwkw is easily achieved on stock turbos (mines making 254rwkw) and would still be more responsive than a single. I would look at spending the money on a decent front mount intercooler and 2.5" or 3" exhaust and maybe a mines/Blitz ECU. If you don't have these already a single conversion will be a bit of a waste in my opinion.
