was pulling out my PCV today because i noticed some oil leaking around the edge of it and down onto the intake manifold (on injector 3)
but i managed to drop the little thing and its dropped down onto the intake manifold below the fuel rails!!!!
with out ripping the intake manifold off, whats probably the easiest way to get at it? i'm not even sure i'd be able to get at it with a pair of pliers even after taking off: accel+kick down cables, pcv hose, injector plugs etc
any suggestions? its made of plastic so magnets are out.

ahhh, being a mechanic the dreaded plastic out of reach component always kills ya HAHA. My advice is get a set of extremely long needle nose pliars, they dont need that much room. That usually works.
otherwise if you can manage get a coat hanger, straighten it out, hook the end of it and try and get it into a hole etc on the part, sometimes you can hook it and drag it out slooooooowly

i tend to drop stuff alot also around my Soarer.
I bought one of those thingos (dont even know what its called) that is about 60CM long and its a thin metal cable like construction and it has a button on the end of it.
When you press on the button 4 little prongs come out the other end (like in a Skill Tester Machine that you see at the shops) and picks up the dropped bolt or whatever it is.
GGGEEEEEZZZ that is a rough description above but surely someone here knows what im talking about.

ah one of them, forgot about those little things. That would definately be the best tool for the task. Speaking of which, i think im going to have to pick 1 up for my toolbox at work now HAHA. Thanks for reminding me
