My engine is at around 146,000kms. I won't be driving the car for about 3-4 more months cause the winter is too cold here. I want to have it tuned up before I put her in the garage and running well when I take it back out after 3-4 months. What do I need to do? Thanks in advance!

Mate , I would recommend parking it, and NOT doing any service work until you fire it up again in a few months... When the time comes, do a complete service on it, oil, plugs, the works, then enjoy it.

I agree with Daniel except i would change the oil & filter before parking, ( unless the oil was changed recently ), stops any acids etc in the oil damaging anything .. As you would be aware make sure the antifreeze is up to date ..
Also a couple of squirts of oil down the bore when you park it will not hurt ..

I parked my car for 7 months when i was in Iraq.
The oil was about 3000KMs old so i didnt change it. I just put it up on Jack stands to stop my tyres from copping any damage.
I also disconnected my battery (but it was flat anyways when i got back haha)
WHen you start it up again for the 1st time, pull the plug from the IGNITER and turn it over a few times to get the oil pumping. Then plug it in and PRESTO should run like it always has,

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll just do an oil change + filter before I store it then. Also, for a tune up, what do I need? Spark plugs, wires, what else?

spark plugs, TT dosnt have high tension leads as they have independant coils. Fuel filter, get a workshop to do a onboard injector system clean, aifilter, reset your ECU. when you store it, make sure to get the fuel level low, as its going to be a waste of good fuel leaving it for a few months, will be stale by then

Hmmm i dunno about that hey.
Personally i left my car with a FULL tank (for 7 months). I have my bulk fuel tanker ticket and we get told its better to keep them FULL as that avoids condensation building up inside the tank and therefore putting water in your fuel.
I realise there is a big difference between an 80L tank in a Soarer and a 38,000L tank in my truck.... im just throwin it out there.
YES the fuel may become a little "stale" (i.e - lose some of its OCTANE) but it shouldnt really cause you a drama if you take it easy on that tank.

ah, its just what ive been bought up on. The condensation definately makes sense, more area for it to build up, and in turn it will start to rust the tank.
38,000l would be fun to fill up, i would imaagine it wouldnt last that long either

You can buy additives for Fuel which helps it retain its octane during storage... Recommended for storing Boats and farm equipment, cant remember the name though...
