Hey guys...recently i hooked up a boost controller...and upped the boost... obviously i removed most of the piping installing the controller...now when boosting to bout 15PSI..i can hear a spooling noise...which was not there before...
Hmmmm...was wondering if it could possibly be the gaskets on the front turbo...not sealing right after the install...i have checked all the intercooler hoses thoroughly...so it cannot be there...
Also just to help sus it out...noise is coming from just behind the firewall...like i said dont know which turbo it could be...hoping its the gaskets though...
IS there any way to check for a boost leak...can anyone help please...

Why did you remove most of the piping to install the controller? all that you needed to do was to add a couple of T pieces to the actuator line.
It won't be anything from the intake side of the turbos as there is no boost pressure there.
Anyway just check all the vacuum lines going to the turbos, intercooler and the intake manifold. If a hose is totally off it will change the idle but if its just loose you will only notice it under boost. Don't stress too much unless there is heaps of smoke out the exhaust, chances are it will just be a vacuum or intercooler hose is loose.

oK...rob the pipes were removed...wen i was replacing the rocker cover gasket...also i think it was removed cuz my hands were too big and i cannot get to the actuator on the rear turbo...that helped...
I do have a boost gauge in the car.. there seems to be no idling issues....there is the possibility that the turbos are working harder its just that i know what it sounded like before...then at the lights one day...it just happnd...all my lines are zip tied...will have to have another look...this is stressing me out...
AS i acellerate its like i keep hearing this whoosh....noise as the turbos spool...its kinda hard to explain...feels like air is blowing out...somewhere as the turbos spool...

NOrmally if they are in good nick, they can be reused. But for peace of mind, sometimes better to replace, as then it eliminates another potential cause.

Dude I know exactly what you're talking about... It's not a healthy sounding noise, I have ABSOLUTLEY no idea what it is... My car has been doing it for about 6 months, I must have checked my piping etc with a fine toothed comb about 15 times, changed all my hose clamps to those big thick ones with bolts rather than those crappy threaded ones... Still nothing. Still makes the noise. It seems to get more noticeable going uphill though.
But in all honesty there's no noticeable loss of performance... I'm still killing evo's and all that noise.
The only thing that I could possibly put it down to is my rear turbo, leaking a tiny tiny amount of oil between the compressor and exhaust housings. I don't know though. I get a very thin whisp of steam coming out of there after my car has had a good hiding. Take you're car for a spin and drive it hard for a minute or two, pull over somewhere sheltered from the wind and keep a close eye on the back left of your block (above rear turbo) and see if you get the same. It's not particularly noticeable...
I hope this helps anyway, I'm fixing my problems by going single
