Bear in mind that the same fissures that form on the outside casing of the coilpack also form through the whole structure of the coilpack. If you're lucky and they're in good condition, sealing them up will work but in my experience it's pretty hit and miss.
I'd get new genuine coilpacks because the quality of the spark has such a huge impact on the quality of the drive... or if you're going with a standalone ECU; perform my favourite coilpack upgrade! (located somewhere on the forum, replace design coilpacks with modern era equipment and never have trouble again!).

Yeah, very true. The Yaris coil upgrade (Goleby's) seems to work well and still has IGF feedback for stock ecu happiness. I think you need to modify the loom just a little bit.

tai that goleby's came out right after i'd started work on my 1nz conversion and confirmed the concept/proved it's profitability. Makes me a bit salty

I have done very successful repairs on HT (75 kv+ ) flyback transformers in the past, There is a 2 part epoxy available ( I have to check where I bought it , think its RS ) . also a quick fix is to clean it with turps or metho , RP7 etc and spray it with silicon spray.
