hi guys.
i'm having a few problems with my soarer at the moment. every now and then when i start the it will idle for a few seconds and then shut its self down. when i try to start it again it will just keep shutting until after a few atempt's and it will run fine. it doesn't loose idle or cough and splutter, it just shuts down as if i have turned it off.
its quite strange as it only happens occasionally and majority of the time it starts and idles fine.
it all started after i had a few things fixed at a local workshop (who shall remain un-name for now) which seems a bit suspect to me as i discovered they had also left my secondary fan unplugged.
anyway if anyone has an idea on what it could be it, or anything to check for it would be greatly appreciated as i am getting ready to sell my car and don't want to spend a lot of money on it right now.

Sounds like your fuel pump ecu. I had the same problem not long ago. Fixed it temporarily with a paperclip. Do a search for fuel pump ecu and you'll get heaps of info there. You have to bridge the Fp and B (I think by memory) with a paperclip in the diagnostics port in the engine bay. Double check that in your search. If that fixes your problem you have a faulty fuel pump ecu which is pretty common in soarers. Some people say to get a new ecu as by bridging the connection your fuel pump runs constantly at 12volts which basically means if you have a major accident your fuel pump will continue to pump fuel which is potentially extremely dangerous, and on the other hand, there a lot of pumps which run constantly at 12volts without an ecu altogether so it's up to you whether you choose to take the risk with a cheap fix or repair the problem. If that's what the problem is of course. Good luck

Just had a quick check and it is the Fp and B+ Ports in the diagnostics box in the engine bay. It sits next to the engine on the passenger side of the car. Just pop the lid on it and under the lid is a diagram of what each port is. Easy fix.
