ok so about 2 weeks ago i got my air con regassed, it was gasless since i bought it. Anyway, tassie is having a huge heatwave at the moment, normal summer temp is around the 30degree mark. Today it was 41c.
Anyway so im driving to a place on the highway about 15 mins away, air con on, i get to my mates place and just happen to glance at the temp guage. its 2 bars over centre F*#K. Turn it off then think nah it wont cool, so parked it in the shade, opened the bonnet and left it idling, it quicly dropped back down, the water was boiling into the header tank.
So after that, i checked the coolant, was all topped up, started it to make sure there was no compression seeping into the coolant jackets, all good. So hopefully im all safe.
After this i went for about a 40 minute drive to pick up an exhaust, never overheated on the way there or back.
Im guessing it was just a freak thing, the temperature was fine about 2 mins from my mates place, seem sto of only overheated for a short period before my mates.
Only thing i can think of is the very high temperate, parred with the extra load of the AC, and the fact that the previos owner mounted a largish FMIC all contributed and caused it to.
Anyway, thought id tell my story as it scarred the absolute crap out of me

Mate Rob Rojo had exactly the same issue a couple of weeks ago, Temp moved over halfway on a Hot day with air con on and could hear bubbling into overflow tank. I told him to get a new Radiator cap . All good since then
For $10 or so, definately peace of mind to make sure it done happen again.
