how many different seals exist on a 1j that can be replaced e.g cam seals, crank seals, etc.
what other ones are there that can be easily replaced ??

you have

2 cam seals

2 rocker cover gasket seals

2 D rubbers for the rocker covers

You have 1 front crank seal

1 Rear main seal

Basically the only easy one to do is the rocker cover gaskets and D rubbers

The cam and crank seals require removal of timing belt etc

Rear main requires removal of transmission or engine.

I havnt taken the 1JZ apart yet, the D rubber is the half a circle (D shape). Not sure if the 1JZ has them, but alot of manufactures when they bore the bearing races they use a D rubber to seal the outer edge of the head.

But if the 1Js dont have them thats a plus, cause they always become brittle and poor out oil lol

^^^^^^
so if i replace all those seals there is no possible way that oil can leak from my actual engine ?
and are all of those seals available from toyota spare parts ??

It also may be leaking from the head gasket near the pressure feed to the head which is located on the intake side of the motor right at the back.

got the cam seals on and have ordered the rocker cover gasket seals and the 'd' rubbers and they should arrive in a few weeks.
after installing them it should be pretty hard for oil to escape my engine mwa ha ha. right ?
there arent any other ways that arent listed that can cause oil to leak from my engine is there ??
sorry if im annoying anyone i just like to be sure.

You dont need to purcahse D rubbers as they are factory alloy, not rubber. You seal them with silicone. Waste of 20 or so each lol.

There are PLENTY of other places it can leak from other than cam seals and rocker covers.

Like stated

Turbo return lines,
High pressure feed to turbos (block and turbo)
Head gasket
Front crank seal
Rear main seal (common culprit)
Like cameron stated pressure feed to head
cam sensor seals
Oil pump gasket if bolted to block
sump gasket (1JZ has a 2 piece sump so there are 2 areas to seal)

And there are things I have probably forgotten about but thats enough for tonight to much to drink

If your rings are worn out, and you are running high boost you will get large ammounts of blow bye which can create positive pressure within the crankcase and blow seals out. MANY MANY areas, its not just a matter of replacing a few seals.

If you dont want ANY leaks, pull the motor out and replace all gaskets and seals.

nathan its probably alot easier if you just washed your engine down really well with degreaser (be mindful of your electronics and other area's water shouldn't be)

run the car for a while, maybe even a day or two. and then look for where the oil is coming from and fix that.

if its leaking on the ground have a look where the puddle is and then roughly trace it back up. would be alot easier then buying all these unnecessary seals and hoping its going to fix it.

^^^ definately the best way, TD5 disco, major oil leak, cleaned motor, ended up the landrover dealership mechanics (where it had been previously serviced before getting peeved at there service and transferring to us) stripped out the rotary oil filter housing cover threads, and thought they would just leave it without repairing the threads haha.

Few helicoils and new bolts and walla, no more major oil leak, something so simple can cause a major oil leak.

My bet is the front crank seal.
I have just done mine, no more oil leak.
The muppet who put the previous seal in made a hash of it.
