Timing belt has no effect on performance (unless it jumps a cog or breaks of course), and there is no point in spending extra money on an "performance" belt, just get an OEM one or thru supercheap etc - they are all much the same.

If its cracked, then get it replaced ASAP, you don't want it to break.

I reckon 4 litres of high gloss sheen should do the whole car ... Maybe grab a sample pot to touch up the engine bay with ???

Ty, if you need to ask, I recommend taking it to a mechanic. Any general mechanic should be able to do it. Replace the serpentine belt while your at it too as this comes off to get to the timing belt.

Are you DIY spraying painting?

Price maybe no more than $100 for labour. Depending how much workshop charge labour per hour. Shouldn't take more than hour to change if nothing goes wrong.

Chris, if he is talkin about the Timing Belt .... That means removing the harmonic balancer , serpentine belt , changing water pump , tensioner may as well be changed as well.

Your looking at between $550 and $750 including coolant and parts and labour depending on where you go. And those crank bolts are Nasty to undo sometimes.

FYI, Greddy performance timing belt is about $200 delivered from Greenline in Japan.
While you are there, you may as well install the exhaust camgear...will net you another couple of neddies with a few degrees retard. Greddy one is about $200 delivered as well.

If you have plans to develop more power, get this stuff done now while the belt is being replaced.
It wont be good if the belt breaks, so this should be a priority. Sounds like the 100k's service hasn't been done?

i believe there's already a write up on this site about how to do a timing belt stop.

http://www.toymods.net//forums/showthread.php?t=14262&highlight=replacing+timing+belt+water+pump

has pretty much all the information you need on how to do it. you dont HAVE to replace things like tensioner or water pump. but its recommended. shouldn't cost cost more then a couple of hundred all up. maybe try calling a few work shops and asking for a rough quote.
