I am posting this for Tref Abbott as he has a few issues with his TT.

My TT has been blowing blue smoke for about a year now but recently it's gotten far worse. There is now the high whistle (or more like a medium pitched scream) whenever I give it any kind of throttle. When she's cold there's no real smoke but within a few minutes, as soon as I stop at the lights or wait at a roundabout, as I pull away, there's the cloud of smoke again. I've read the various posts and I can certainly say the smoke is not white. I just the oil with 15/60 oil to hopefully stop the smoke but it's been of very little use. I see past threads have spoke about valve stem seals going. My first question is; anyone know how much it would cost to get the valve stem seals replaced at a mechanic's? My next question is; If I continue to drive and the turbos have gone (as it seems at the moment) apart from obvious lack of power-which I have at the moment- is there any danger in keep driving the car? Money is virtually non-existant at the moment so a replacement car is out of the question so I'm trying to keep the Soarer going a while longer. There's no way I will replace the turbos. I just want to ensure I still have some wheels to get around with. My third question is; could it actually be the turbos being stuffed that is causing the BLUE/GREY smoke? Any hints or tips would be great!

if its lacking power and it has a high pitch squeel id say it may be turbos.

Problem with oil passing the turbo seals is its burning it, so id be keeping an eye on the oil level.

Valve stem seals are a pretty indepth job on soarers, as the valve springs are recessed into the head as it uses bucket and shim setup.

Most mechanics would remove the head to do them, so your looking at 1000+ really for that unfortunately.

BUT it is possible to remove them with the head still on with the use of some specially made tools, but still requires the removal of the timing belt, cams, etc etc, so your still looking at roughly 1000 or so for that unfortunately

This is getting a workshop to do it, if you did it yourself it would be ALOT cheaper. :-) as being small parts to replace, they require alot of time to do, which is always the way haha
