Some people pay money to play golf, some people pay a lot of money to go sailing. I pay for petrol to enjoy driving my Soarer. :-)

It's all about priorities in life isn't it Pen? Same here hehe

My car's economy isn't too bad. I use BP Ultimate (that's all we get here in WA) My stock soarer does just over 500 k's per tank in the city which is a mix of snail pace around the CBD in rush hour and full-on flooring it when I get a good chance. On a highway, in my last recent trip it did over 700 k's per tank. That was my last cruise on a country road averaging about 150 km/h, with not much hard acceleration (I was driving with my gf ok) I must say this car just kicks ass when it comes to cruising like that though, especially when the turbos already hell boosted just floor it and off it goes. Pity about the 179 kmh speed limit

BTW gotta get around to do that BFI thing finally then. Looks like performance isn't the only benefit hehe

I always thought my 3.0 had a 78 ltr tank like all the others. Last week I let it empty till display showed 10 ltrs remaining. Re filled the tank and it took exactly 58 ltrs. spec sheets posted on the web state that they've all got 78 ltr tanks but the instruction manual with my car states 68?? Very confused?? does anyone know definitively?

Well.. logically, i would think the spec sheet attached to your vehicle would have precedence over anything you can find on the net! provided it was put there by toyota lol

My car uses alot of fuel just buzzing around town these few days I used about 10l and only 50km, does this sound like a major propblem with my car?
Or is just because of city driving?

Richard, is there much of a 'power' increase with the HKS DLI? Or is it more about response and RPM fluidity as i would suspect.

Ofcourse more complete combustion is going to net more power, but will it be a noticable difference.
Cihan.

I dont know of the differences it makes yet as I havnt got the unit yet, should be here soon.

Will be also getting a set of new spark plugs.

After its on I'll let ya know, but there are some people on the forums here that are running the HKS DLI, maybe they can shed a bit of light on this topic

Hi Guts,

I have the HKS DLI on my TT, evrything else stock, except plugs are super dupa's from jp that don't have a bottom electrode...!!

Economy at 100 speed (105Cruise)limit(98premium)freeway/highway long trip, 9.4L/100k and averages up to 10.5-12.5L/100k mixed driving city/freeway without thinking too economically. It's still fun, and I'm playing with it till it sells....looking to try twin dumps and an AFC soon...mmmm, money money fun

Fuel economy, around town I've noticed the car does about 8~9kms/L which I don't find bad at all compared to my old one... 4~5kms/L w00t.

I haven't noticed that our tank is smaller than the '95, Sam, but I'll check the handbook (yes, we actually got one!)when I get home from work. In my experience the "fuel remaining XX litres" or reserve lights are wildly inaccurate.

So far the '97 is noticeably more economical than the old model, but only 2 tanks to gauge it so far.

Nick, I average the same economy as you.

However,

With Mobil 8000 I get 400k's per tank around town (with 10L left)

With BP Ultimate I get 450-475k's per tank around town (with 10L left)

That is on average, after about 5 tanks of fuel with each.

Ultimate is better economy, for the same price.

I usually use Optimax since it's the cheapest in the area, plus it seems to last the longest in my car

Sam, our Owner's Manual has 78 litres for something, I'd have to assume it's fuel capacity. I don't read Japanese (especially kanji).

Maybe the VVTI only has a 68 litre tank since it's supposed to be more economic?
