boys its been a while since i posted here she has been making a very strange sound when in drive, not in nuetral or park and when drive it in reases with revs
sonds like a strange whirring sound coming from the engine bay, does it also in drive when the handbrake is on
then it started to overheat and coolant is coming from the driverside of the engine just above the alternator it is almost dripping on it
car over heats to full after 4 minutes of driving and has full coolant??

My guess would be an O-Ring in the intermediate pipe above the water pump, as mine was leaking there recently. With cars our age, ots a very good idea to pop the bonnet everytime you wash the car and check the water level. Thats how I picked my leak, before the engine ever got too hot.

nah the head gasket is fine, it only reached full temp once and i stopped straight away and it went back down to normal but yeah coolant was pissing out but only cause the o ring was totally cactus
and yeah micheal your right thats the o ring
car runs sweet now except the noise is still there

The engines are so tough that a little overheating usually won't do any damage. Not like my old Trumph - once it overheated due to a failed water pump while someone else was driving it, head had to come off, skim, new (thicker) gasket - machining was expensive, gasket set was expensive, water pump was expensive and lost a whole weekend working on the damn thing.

Hello everyone I have just bought a 1991 V8 Limited and love it to bits. I just love your site...so much information...just wish i could contribute in some way. I am going to try and do some of the minor stuff myself. Can anyone please tell me a good place to take my car for services etc as my local mechanic didn't even know to turn the tems control off in the book before he put the car on the hoist when i took it for a roadworthy. Would like to know that the person looking after my car knows what they are working with. I live in Werribee Thanks so much for allowing me to join all you genius out there Vanessa

Vanessa.
One of the best places to take your Soarer for EXPERT attention by knowledgeable enthusiasts is Sport & Luxury Cars. If you click on the Blue advert at the bottom of this post, it'll take you to their web site.

Vanessa. I don't know where Werribee is, but Sports & Luxury cars know Soarers extremely well. See (and click on) the logo at bottom left of your screen.
