Thought I would give a quick update, the T78 is gone.
I traded the kit for a gt3082r kit which is a dual ball bearing unit with a .82 rear housing with custom stainless manifold and turbosmart 48mm wastegate.
Kit is now all fitted and running, car is off to get the dump made up and fitted tomorrow.
Should be a bit more fun with the manual and trd 2way diff Which is being fitted next week.

The car is now up and running and is a totally different car to drive.
Boost comes on strong from around 3000 and full boost under 4000rpm, it's hard to tell how hard it actually pulls as the roads are wet and just spins through the gears.

How would you compare it to your old Soarer which ran 11's on stock twins?

Its really hard to tell at the moment as it just spins in the wet, it does come on boost a bit later but still very responsive.
The sound is awesome though.

stop rob, your making me anxious :-)

Im gonna aim for 300 out of the smaller GT3076R, 300 is my aim so the smallest turbo i can get this out of, without power dropping off and having awesome response the better :-)

I reckon this is possible as aaron made 231rwkw at 10psi with the turbo, granted he had cams, but that will follow soon :-), going to have it tuned for 22psi

I am pretty confident that my current setup when tuned will make over 300rwkw when tuned at around 21-22psi.
Its really hard to get a good feel of the power with the roads being wet but my old 11sec TT didn't spin up so easily at similar speeds. (On privat roads of course)

Took the car for another quick spin to the shops and road was almost dry.
Noticed boost actually starts from 2500rpm and full boost around 3600-3800rpm.
I forgot to turn down the Boost controller and boost went straight to 1.5 bar or 22psi and was still climbing but got off the gas as soon as I realised.
It seems to pull a lot harder than my old TT and doesn't run out of puff at all up top.
So it will be interesting to see what sort of power it makes.
Probably won't be as quick as the TT as this ones manual but should be twice the fun. lol

It was a nightmare of a job as a lot of things needed to be modded but it looks like it was worth it.

Have done about 300k's with the new turbo on and I am very happy with it.
First day I had a problem with over boosting which was a problem with the boost controller but sorted that this morning.
Not sure what spring pressure is in the wastegate but with controller off runs 15psi which is quite high but not really an issue.
I am not pushing it at the moment until I can do some more tuning as its running quite rich.
It is nice and responsive and pulls all the way to the rev limiter.
Now to fit the TRD LSD as it spins the treads pretty easily. lol

Excuse the mess, usually it all looks pretty clean but with all of the work lately it's covered in plenty of crap.
I had to re-route the turbo piping as there was just too many bends.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about the style of wheels as I have seen them look terrible on a lot of other cars but I think they go really well with the colour and kit.
I'm just waiting for the bonnet and AC front bar and will paint them both at the same time.

300rwkw shouldn't be too hard to reach with the GT3082r with the .81 rear housing as they are rated to 600hp and there are quite a few EVO lancers making 500whp at around 26psi.
If it doesn't crack the 300rwkw i'll swap it for a 3540.

ive got the 3076R kit on mine now to rob :-), with external screamer, goes like a raped ape :-), have to get some vids see how they compare :-)

Love the sound out of the singles, you can hear each individual exhaust pulse as apposed to the twins where its a very flat exhaust note, not rough :-)

Nice wheels rob. This turbo seems to have similar characteristics as my t3g setup without the hassle of having twins. This might be the next step for me if I decide not to go 2j.

Aaron. Don't you think the 94 tail lights suit yours and robs colour more than the 97s?

haha, yeah they are a lot different to drive than the stock turbos.
The T78 was too big but when it hit it was like being shot out of a canon but not much fun as a daily.
now with the GT3082 it comes on boost nice and early and pulls hard all the way to redline.

I reckon fitting the single manifold is twice as bad as the stock twins but at least now if i decide to go the GT3540 it won't take long at all, just undo oil and water lines 4 bolts for the dump and 4 bolts to the manifold. But not planning that anytime soon. lol

good to see you got it going scott hope you are happy and you have to send me some pics vids and dyno sheets haha
sebastian... im not sure i think 94's and 97's look good on any soarer i think the 94's go well with the lighter blue for some reason. i like both on mine ive just always loved the 97's lol i still have my 94's incase i want to change stuff around and swap them over haha

yeah single manifold is so annoying to do the lower nuts on the studs and a few of the turbo bolts but i guess could be worse... 300zx lol
