This is an elaboration on this thread:
http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/145633/283886.html - I'm sure its the same for a TT, also picture may help some people.

What is the difference between the cable circled in RED and the cable circled in YELLOW (ie functionality)?

What effect does tightening/loosening one or the other or both have on how the car operates?

does your car have cruise control?

I dont have a auto, but generally you will have 1 to 3 cables

Main 1 being your throttle cable, which is operated via your foot pedal inputs.

2nd if you have cruise, is controller from the cruise control unit etc.

and If you have an auto, you will have a kickdown cable, this is wired down into the transmission, when you put your foot down, and it jumps down a gear or 2, this is the kickdown cable acting in the trans to drop a gear. Simple as that

Also looking now, its just a kickdown cable :-)

you want them to have a very slight ammount of slack on the cables, but not loose, this will ensure its kicking down at the correct throttle opening and you are getting full throttle :-)

Yes kickdown cable. mechanics slang :-)

As its what causes the trans to kick down a gear when generally 80 to 100% throttle is given

Nowadays its all done through the ECU

Scott, my point is that it is NOT a kick down cable.

Peter, can you elaborate on what LPS is? A quick google just says "loop powered sensor" and i'm not getting very far..

Thanks :-)

Line Pressure Cable . As throttle is applied , the Line pressure cable is tightened . There is a sensor in the gearbox this cable runs to , which then decides how much throttle is being used, as to how fast or slow the gearchanges are going to be .

Dont loosen it off too much or it will burn out the clutch packs in the gearbox .
