Hi Guys,
I was just curious, I have a 1991 Toyota Soarer TT and purchased a Greddy profec b spec 2 Boost controller that i want to install....Would my stock ecu be able to run it, I mean the new boost settings if i were to change them to lets say 14psi or would i have problems?? I am also running stock turbos, Pod Air filter and FMIC.

From my reading, doing so will be risky due to excessive heat in the turbos due to the stock exhaust and dump pipe.
The ecu has fuel maps to boost cut but not after ( if you fit a fuel cut defender), so doing so is safe, but boost cut sucks it's like rev cut, but with jap symbols.
P.s. I am hitting boost cut (rather anoying but emanage ultimate turns up tommorow) with dump back 3" > 2x 2.5" exhaust, front mount, bfi, hks filter, NO boost controller.
Seeing as you have purchased it, you may as well fit it, but be wary what you put into it as the ceramic turbos don't seem to like excessive heat.

HPI used Troy Bakers old soarer as a guinea pig for a mod write up on the soarers. A boost controller with 14 psi made absolutely no difference on a soarer with a stock exhaust as it's just too restrictive.
My advice, save up, get a piggy back next and when you have that, save up again, full exhaust with dumps, install the piggy back and boost controller and then get it tuned. You'll thank me later

Safc is an expensive FCD . Grab an FCD for under $100 bux if your on a budget . My tuner really hates SAFC's , as most people start playing with the tunes themselves . Where as an FCD is set, and put away under the carpet ;)

Guys i will be getting an exhaust system as well i'm not sticking with the stock exhaust system also i wont be running 14psi all the time that on high everyday driving might be 11psi..... All i'm asking is can the stock ecu run the new boost changes with an auto electrician he said no it wont i would need to get an after market ecu as the stockie would go into what he said LIMP Mode...

as i said the computer will run with the changes quite well up until boost cut, boost cut is far from limp mode as i said above.
but as said, i doubt you'll be running only 11psi on your "daily" setting as with a (good) exhaust the car will hit boost cut (13.8psi) naturally.
expect to leave big clouds of black behind you from excess fuel being dumped in (the computers failsafe option), i lessened that alot by cleaning things like air intake temp sensor etc etc.

Running 2 stages of boost is purely for wank factor . Just dont put your foot down as much if you dont want it to boost as much, its as simple as that !
With a decent exhaust , you will probably see a natural boost of somewhere between 11-13psi anyways . Yes the stock ECU can handle that no issues . But if boost raises further then you will hit " Boost CUT " , not a LIMP mode . These cars do have a LIMP mode in the ecu, but overboosting wont bring this on at all .
Your auto electrician doesnt really know if thats what he is saying .

Guys this is really great help I appreciate it....Now if i may ask you, how do you reckon i should set the boost controller. 1 setting only instead of 2? Should i just set it to 14psi or go a bit less? or what? Thanks again Guys

Im just bein honest champ . I mean you dont drive round with your foot flat on the throttle do you ?
If you must do multiple settings, but you will find you will just leave it on the high setting and drive normally . Then if you wanna boot it, you got full boost
